IS the 8 touching the 5 above it? Looks suspect to me.

Darren,

Do you know the date when '73's got screws on the trim tags... I do not know when it was...

Darren,

Seems I remember seeing that tag somewhere before???

I remember the funny z28 stamp. I think it was posted some time back on the nasty site, maybe.

The bottom of the add discusses the car being a clone?

This is in the description:

Re-listed Due To Mistaken Vehicle Identity

**We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all the potential buyers, bidders and watchers for the mistake that was made on our part when previously listing this item. We prematurely went solely off of the trim tag and from what we were told by the previous owner and listed this item previously as a Z-28. After several bidders/watchers emailed us, we ran the VIN number and realized that we had been told some incorrect information and that the car is actually a 1973 Camaro Type LT. Although, it could be listed as a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Type LT Z-28 Clone with the Z-28 badges and trim tag and Z-28 trim packages added. Again, we apologize for our mistake and in no way meant to create confusion or to mislead anyone. We are a stand up business that has sold many vehicles to date and this was the first time that this has happened to us as we had just rushed to place the ad. Again, we are sorry. If you have any questions on this vehicle, please contact us. We would also like to thank all of those individuals who did email us and brought this to our attention. We also attempted to respond to each individual who emailed us regarding this but since the ad was pulled off of EBAY, we were not able to do this. We will be more precise and check VIN numbers, trim tags and any other documentation from this point forward. Thank you.**

The ad states in no uncertain terms that the car is a clone. They listed it once as a Z, then they pulled the ad because of the negative feedback. It is now re-listed as an LT, but it still has the Z badge on the grill. Also, the milage is stated as not actual. Nice car for the price.

Darren,

I had a 73 Z28 that I bought new. I can tell you without question that the 'Z28' marking on that TT looks nothing like mine did http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif Also, any 73 Z28 will have a letter 'T' as the 5th digit in the VIN.

Nice looking car. Not sure about that short spoiler, though.

I had a couple of those 73 LT's back in the day, and I recall being able to order them with a Z driveline. I bought one brand new off the showroom floor, no spoilers or stripes/245HP/TH400/10-Bolt 3.73 Posi, and I recall the salesman telling it me the drivetrain was identical to the Z/28. He said it was a way to get the same car and pay less insurance. The second LT had stripes/spoilers/Saginaw wide ratio 4-speed that was a hoot to drive. If you put it next to a '73 "Z/28" and removed the emblems from both cars, the VIN was probably the only way you could tell them apart.

Correct. In 1973, you could order the Z28 option on either the base Camaro or on the Type LT (they were two different models). In addition, you could also add the Rally Sport option to either model. The group of guys that I hung around with at the time, there were 8 of us who all bought new 73 Z28's, and there was at least one of each of the four possible combinations: Z28, Rally Sport Z28, Type LT Z28, and Rally Sport Type LT Z28 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
