Hey everyone. Long time no see. Does the owner of a red on red '69 Camaro ZL1 post on this site, or does anybody know him/her? Right now there's a car for sale on eBay with the engine out of car #62. The auction ends sometime around lunch on Sept. 10, 2008 (depending on your time zone). He's holding the engine hostage for big money, but if you're the owner of ZL1 #62, thought you might be interested. Good luck on all your endeavors fellow Camaro enthusiasts!

Hey well at least there are ..."No hidden agenda's or stories."

This is a curious statement.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif "This car not only retains the correct, matching number, all aluminum ZL1 engine that is completely documented and correct for the 62nd ZL1 Camaro produced." http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Just curious, what proof exists, which determines that the clone has the real engine from #62?

I saw this car @ the 07 Detroit Autorama, stunning restoration by the way.
I thought the owner told me #62 was destroyed at some time in it's life ??
I thought that was how the engine became available ?
Do not take any of this as gospil.
Does anyone know what happedend to #62

It was restored and sold by Ed Cuneen. It did not have the original engine. The ZL1 is now in Texas I believe.

I really like the clone and have interest if the engine is the real deal.

Question. It looks like the rocker is blacked out, but as an X11, should it have the wheel opening white double pin stripe?

Yes. Non SS cars W/Z21 Bright trim should have wheel opening pin strips.

The owners name is Buddy and has NO interest in paying that kind of money for his motor. I tried to put the two together but the seller of the car(clone)said he was going to buy the ZL1, which wasnt going to happen..
It is a KILLER clone !! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like a very nicely done car. Does the clone market significantly favor a clone with a real motor?

So are you saying that the ZL1 engine in the clone is verified as the original engine from #62?
