Cool. I think Luby sponsored Judy Lilly in drag racing.

If you want to post them easily in the post you do.

Email them to me at [email protected] ...or you can upload them like you did your first one...then click on your attachment and copy the location of the picture from the title bar, then edit your post and use the Instant UBB code for images and insert it in the post that way....Make sense? That's how I put your pic in the post above...

Let me know what you'd like to do!

Was! is the key word now its in my garage. Cool story how the guy found the car, the original owner walked in to his repair center in Denver and seen a 69 Camaro grill on the shop floor, he said "69 Camaro grill" the shop owner said ya good eye, original owner said I bought a 69 Camaro brand new off the showroom floor at Luby Chevrolet here in Denver had a 427 in it and I took it and raced it. The shop owner said 427 originally like "COPO" he said ya thats what they call them COPO. The original owner said I will bring you by some photos of me racing it w/ a news clip of winning my class and taking home the money and I still have the original invoice and misc. papers and poss. the window sticker somewhere. Well the shop owner did some real leg work and was able to track the car down, it had only changed hands twice since the original owner sold it in 1979 and it was still there in Denver so he put the car and the paperwork together! Would have like to been the one to put it together. I was the first to get the car from the shop owner after he placed the ad, and the paperwork and a great great story. One neat thing is the original owner middle name is Mike whice he goes by, he put his name on the car whice is my fist name. So I thought I would put my name on the car go race it a bit then do a full restro someday. Thanks Mike

Out of curiosity...What's was the asking price in the Hemmings ad?

If it's the same car, last month it listed for 75K & the Oct issue had it for $69,500. Ad states it's Lemans Blue with X11 style trim. Great deal http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Original color was Lemans Blue, but the original owner painted it black right after he got it to go racing. The shop owner I got it from was asking $75k but got it for $64k ,$1650 for shipping , and a great great story priceless !!! I allready have the car mostly gutted to repaint to Black for awhile (its purple per 3rd owner?) but it really is in real nice shape so I thought I would take it back to race day glory till I do a nut/bolt restro someday. I just got the old school moroso hood today for it. Will look good on the car for some great photos then hange on the shop wall. I will attach a picture to this post see above. http://

Mike, I'd suggest re-thinking the black paint in favor of LeMans Blue....even if it's a quick, body-on paint job. Just look at Alan Forman's car...a perfect example of a day2 COPO that can be driven & enjoyed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gifJMO

Thanks Jude, I know Iam thinking the same thing on the LeMans Blue but I really want to get my own picture of the car like it was racing back in the day, but I'am really happy with it being a real Blue car. I will add a attachment on this post above of the door panel off the LeMans Blue is real nice under there. Iam pulling the motor and trany tomarrow so I can detail the engine bay, this car is really cool, no really it has 5 coolers a rad, trany, oil, fuel, & last a p/steeering cooler? So I will have lots to do! just to get it back to basics. Thanks Mike

Mike, paint it black and leave it in race day trim till you get sick of it. (maybe 50 years down the road) then restore it. Look how Caleb Arones race car COPO looks in Day-2 trim! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Bad A$$ and the way it is suppose to be IMO! A great find! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif Have some fun. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/youguysrock.gif

I gotta go with Sammy on this........ except I might even leave it Purple for a while! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Either way, just enjoy it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

The prior owner of the car knew it was a COPO.
He said something about it being bought for the dealer's son as a b-day present. The prior owner #2 took the BE rear when he sold him the car.
Course he didn't have any papers on the car......

Kurt, the 2nd owners name is Dan P. who bought the car in 1979 from the original owner. On the bill of sale I have he sold it to the 3rd owner Chris C. in 11/16/91 for $1500. Chris knew it was a COPO but over the 17 years he had it he had no paperwork or the race photos w/ the car, Chris sold it to the shop owner this May 2008 who then did the work w/ getting the car w/ it's paperwork. Do you think Dan the 2nd owner has the BE rear for the car? I've talk w/ the origanal owner and Chris the 3rd owner , but have not made contact w/ Dan the 2nd owner. Thanks Mike

The info actually came from Shawn C, his brother. I'd suggest asking Chris again, but that's what Shawn had said about the axle.
