Dennis,
Record breaking rain fall in the Chicago area....I`ve been indoor with the family all weekend, hunkered down. Been babysitting my sump pump. So far so good...no water in basement and garage http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Seems like my grass grew 3 inches in 48 hours http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I knew you guys got hit hard. We're just past 7" at present and they're telling us to brace for three more before evening.
Lots of waterfront property around us right now,................. and our indoor pool at the lower level isn't exactly what we were looking for. But it could be a lot worse. No damage yet,.... just some minor inconveniences.
Friends of mine living in Franklin Park were asked to evacuate.Anyone living closer to the city along the Chicago river is in trouble as it crested overnight. They had to open the locks to Lake Michigan, which lowered it 10".Viaducts are flooded all over the place.
Some Football games will be quite amusing today.Just hold onto the ball and you win.
We broke that August,1987 24 hour record rainfall of 6.49".They say we got 6.69" so far and now reminants of Hurricane Ike are coming down ontop of that.
On a happier note,my dog has got new life in her & simply loves this weather. She is jumping in every retention pond she can find and wants to play with the geese.
Wanna go for a walk?....http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t142/peterspix_2007/German_shepherd_6.gif
I'm sitting here in the Midway Airport pilot lounge watching the rain come down in buckets. Also wishing I had brought my raincoat today for the walk around.
I hope the best for those along the Texas coast. It looks bad.

We are stuck in a drought here in GA. I can't believe that all these 'canes are going around us.

Hey you Chi-town guys...keep it safe!
Stay as dry as you can... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
150 miles from where the storm came ashore and Austin didn't receive a drop of rain. They cancelled the UT/Arkansas game because everyone thought that we would have a category 2 storm here, but the only thing we received was a cloudy Saturday.

7.3in at the Quad cities airport in Moline. That's about 20 miles South of Donahue. We only had about 2.5. Guess we dodged a bullet this time.

It's about time! You've been hit by every other storm that's rolled thru the Midwest.
My wife had this sent by one of her co-workers, from the Chicago storm last weekend.

Well, I survived the storm. I am on the backside of Galveston Bay (400' from the water) and lets say it was FUGLY. El Lago / Seabrook took it hard. I did not take on water from the surge, but I did lose four 50 year old oaks and a palm tree. At least they all fell away from the house. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif The backside of the eye was where it all was. I had 120-130mph winds. I still have no power and won't for at least another 10-20 days. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif I saw my first postman walking the street today--the first since last Wed. I drove YS-199 out of there on Friday morning in full race trim and on slicks to the warehouse about 30 miles away. I had one cop give me a look, but he never came after me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif My Cigerette Top Gun was already in the warehouse as I have had the drives off of it having them freshened up. Down at the El Lago marina there is quite a bit of marine carnage. Lots of 30-50' boats up against each other and Nasa rd. 1. Almost all of the boats left in the marina in the boathouse in the slings are either off and submerged or have been slamed into the upper beams and the topsides of the boats are destroyed. There is going to be a firesale on $300K boats with serious power. I may have to do some shopping for a nicer pair of motors for mine. I finally have my cleanup complete with the exception of hanging fence boards on 5 sections. I am ready for a few days off...... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

In Cincinnati we had steady winds about 40-70 mph with gusts up to 80 on Sunday. The tri-state area had about 600,000 people without power at the height of it all. It was directly related to the hurricane, but we had no rain, just the winds. My power was out from Sunday (14th)around 2:00pm and just came back on tonight (18th) around 9:00 pm. I had friend who was up in Chicago and was headed out of Ohare on Sunday, they braked on the runway, turned around and delayed the flight due to the high winds. Local news stated it was record winds...meaning it being steady, and without a storm or rains associated with it.
