An old castle that was used as a prison for a long time. The Bridge is considered to be the most beautiful in Rome.

There are lots of small cars there. I saw several Smart-cars along the streets, parked at a 90 degree angle towards the traffic. They are short !
Didnīt take any pics of them though.

We lived in Trastevere, the part of the city where the workers used to live. That was the place to go in the evening when you wanted good food at a reasonable price.
Our own Superstar Marie Fredriksson from "Roxette" walked by the evening before Madonna had her show in Rome.

Fontana di Trevi !
During the nights the temperature fell down to 80 degrees F. During the days it was around 90 degrees.
I wonder why it took me nearly fifty years to go to Rome. I really recommend going there.

I expected to see a few Ferraris and Lamborghinis but this Audi was the only "Supercar" we saw. Anyone know what type it is ?

Ah Anders, very nice. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. That would be a nice time of year to visit Rome. I expect the crowds weren't too bad.
More pix please. I've not been to Rome, but would like to before too long. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Rich, I donīt think the square is always crowded. But most pics taken there and sent around the world are taken at special occasions when it is crowded.
This palace was built in memory of the man who united Italy, some 110-120 years ago. I donīt remember the names !
Mussolini used it during WW2.

Lots of remnants in Rome. The Flavian amphitheatre, later nicknamed Colosseum, in the background.

At least 30 feet of the outer shell has been removed, hundreds of years ago, half way around.

Thousands of tons of marble has been removed during the years, and used in other buildings in Rome. There is a small area to the right in the picture where they have reconstructed the seats inside the Colosseum. There was marble all around the place up to the highest level, the fourth, which was built of wood.
70.000 people could attend the amphitheatre one day. Some days as many as 5.000 animals where killed.

We also went something like 15 miles outside Rome to a small town in the surrounding mountains, called Tivoli. There we found this nice little castle that I would love to own.

Our main reason for going to Tivoli was Villa dīEste with its 16th-century park, with water everywhere.

My wife and I made it to Rome in 2001 and I was thought it was very cool, but we took a train ride to Florence and stayed a couple of days there. The food in Rome was so-so, but in Florence, I could have gained 50 lbs! I am trying to remember the name of the restaurant that we went to (it was recommended by some other people we met). They open their doors around 6-7 in the evening and a crowd is there waiting to get in. They asked at the door if we had a reservation and we said 'no'. We called the next day and they said that they do not take reservations!!! We showed up the next night and they asked if we had reservations and we said 'Yes'!!! We sat down at a table and were joined by about 6 others. We were served bottles of wine and had a wild game feed to die for!!! I would highly recommend taking that short trip north!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
