A buddy of mine is interested in purchasing this car but because of a jumped title he wants to make sure that the title is legit. He looked for a vin number but could not find one on the car. Where did Chevrolet install vin plates on a car of this vintage? Did they use an "engine number" or something? Thanks in advance.

Frank,

Get him to verify with his Motor Vehicle Department that the title that is being provided is also the most current title. If there has been an title reissued since that one, it will automatically void the older title in my particular state and he could well have a car with a title that isn't any good anyway. Be careful!

Serial # Tag on 1949 - 1952 Models location is on Driver's Side Front Door Pillar

1942 - 1957 Cowl (Body) Plate Tag is on Passenger Side Upper Firewall

Engine number is located on the right side of the block to the rear of the distributor.
(sequential number should match vin number)
