I had a call yesterday from a guy selling a '67 project car. He started to describe the car and mentioned a few enthusiasts that I knew that had already seen the car. We talked for a while and he mentioned what would have been a steal of a price a year or two ago and it hit me just how difficult things are right now. This car would have been bought and sold 2 or 3 times by now if it were 2005 or 2006. With all of the financial uncertainty right now, I'll likely pass too...man, how things have changed http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'm glad I sold mine when I did. I don't think I could sell it for half the price now.

I just wish I was in the position to pick something else up right now. There are some good deals to be had.

Just back to reality, economy was never that good and people and gov't were spending money that was not theirs. Good reality check. Problem is no one is buying and no one can sell, because banks ain't given and most, not all, can't buy without others money, even at half price. Weird.

Barrett/ Jackson at Vegas is sold out! Should be interesting.

Agree with Stuart. Economy has been artificially propped up for years with easy credit and this is the reckoning. The Michigan economy has downright sucked since I've lived here, nothing new. However, I have not seen prices appreciably lower (no more than 10-15%) on quality cars with paper - maybe the owners end up keeping them if they cannot get their price?

Me too! Also,I have several people with cars i call religously,Ls6 chevelles,z28's and others they have had for many years and they will not sell them. One guy has been laid off and still will not sell. I still think the quality cars will bring good money.

It was i took it off to put it on e-bay. It's one of those cars you need to see in person Pics & decription don't do it justice.

There are those who will never sell their cars and that's great for them! However, there are those who will want or need to sell and they will have to accept the current situation. No one can argue that prices aren't were they were the past few years. As far as examples go, just look in the classifieds on this site. How many cars have had price adjustments since first being posted? How many are still sitting there for sale for weeks or months? Sure, good cars will still get sold, but they are not selling for what they did before. I just sold Scuncio a 302 long block for $2,750. That motor would have been worth $4K all day long 2 years ago, but I couldn't get that for it now. I bought my LS5 for 20% less than 2006 prices. A friend just sold a '67 435 car at Bloomington for $60K less than he was offered a few years ago. Look at Sam's black Z on this site for $52K...people would have been fighting over it 2 years ago for that money. How many project cars have been listed here and on ebay that were no sales? The facts are there for anyone willing to accept them! That doesn't mean that the sky is falling, it just means that more people will be able to afford a neat car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Thee was a stunning white COPO with red interior that Sam Pearce sold at the Mecum auction for about 135K. Great car for the money.

Good price. Not a lot of 'room' for the seller in that price!

It was a Camaro and very nicely done with magazine articles on it when pulled from a barn. History pics if it lettered up as a drag car. Ran as the "Hoosier Hell" IHRA B stock world record holder. Sold new at Queen City Chevrolet, Cincinatti Ohio.According to description , all orig sheetmetal. Very very nice looking car.

There was a brand new (156 miles) 2001 Z06 auction result in this months Sports Car Market for ~$29.5k. Don't know if that is a good Z06 price, but it is a whole lot of sports car for $3k less than I paid for my Toyota Highlander (i.e. Family Truckster).

The white camaro is in pictures under the section "other events" Friday auction. Looks to be a great car at a fair price.

There's also a 2008 2LZ Z06 with 5,000 miles for $56K on Corvette Forum. Now that is a lot of car for the money!

Did any of you guys that were at the auction take a look at the Fathom Green COPO Camaro lot S238...I see it was bid up to $90K and did not sell...what was your take on the car. I see it was restored at a shop in Iowa...any of you guys from Iowa know this car?
That white/red COPO was SWEeEeT!...

The white COPO went to the same person that bought the '70 Nickey Z and the orange ZL1 Yenko replica. I rode in the ZL1 Yenko to his shop, about an hour drive. Spared a bit with the Nickey Z on the way. The Z looked great on the road with that L88 hood.

Thanks Stefano...people just not a fan of green on green that day?...I'll assume it didn't have the paperwork like the "Christmas" COPO (white/red) or they would have showed it?...
How was the restoration on the green car?

Both were former race cars. The Green one has a MacNeish Certification, and another real COPOs engine, while the White Red One has an Original Window Sticker and POP as well as the original engine, based on what I was told.

Just because it is an auction doesn't mean that there will be a retail buyer for every car, at full market value.

I bid on dozens of cars and only ended up getting a couple.
