I know its a long shot, but does anyone remember a 1970 Chevelle SS L78 convertible, black cherry 4 speed that use to terrorize the street racing scene in Kansas City in the 1970s.
Thanks

In earlier post you indicated having L78 convertible possible for sale??
Is this the car in question?

I know its a very old post and golfer has not been on here since 2018 but just in case, Chad and I looked at this L78 convert about 16 years ago in Kansas City. It has since been restored and I believe sold as original drivetrain which the engine was not though if I recall the original transmission and rear were still in the car. Regardless, it almost has to be the same car considering the rarity and location.

Is this that car after it was restored? These pictures are from Mecum Indy in '09. I don't have the VIN but this was advertised as an original L78 4 speed convertible with a numbers matching drivetrain. It is an 11B car with a Kansas City body number of 283332.

Chris Cadwalder / Cadwalder Classics restored one, just like this. Non Original Engine, build sheet car.

Could very well be. If I recall it did have a buildsheet. Unfortunately I did not bother to photograph the cowl tag or buildsheet let alone write the VIN down. Stupid me.

How about this one? It has Rick's plate on it. I saw this in a museum/ collection in Decatur IL on Oct. 30 2021. Note: this car has washer fluid monitor and the car mrays posted does not. This also a non cowl induction car like the one Rick posted.

That is John G's LS6 convertible I restored for him a couple years ago with a very dusty decklid. LOL. I was storing it there waiting its turn for the MCACN show and keeping it out of my way at the shop. It is now in California.
As for the non flapper hood on my pictures versus the restored L78, the restorer may have added that option when it was restored, who knows. I know there are people on here that know the VIN but I do not have it on either car unfortunately but otherwise very similar cars and both in the same area of Kansas City.

The car I posted pictures of was restored by Chris Cadwallader. I found some pictures of I believe the same car on Corvette Jim's website. He has a nice collection of Chevys up in Wisconsin. It's my understanding that Black Cherry Chevelles came with white stripes regardless of top color. Could you special order black stripes in '70 on a Black Cherry Chevelle if you wanted them? The car Rick posted photos of had black stripes as well.

Yes you could. There is currently a documented Black Cherry LS6 coupe for sale.
