Psyco - figured I can have glass replaced with date coded glass (OEMglass.net?). Do you know of another source or a pristine original for a Nova with a trim tag date of 05D (1970)?

My book lists the mirror as part number 3909197. If that is what you need (it's a round mirror) then I have one new in the GM box. PM me if you are interested.

Keep in mind the correct (date code correct) 68-70 Nova side view mirror has a snap ring to help hold in the glass. The later GM NOS ones are strictly glued in, no snap ring.

I think the newer version was still available at the dealer??? Might be worth a try anyway.

Sam, I tried your email and it got returned. The NOS mirror I have is the glued in variety. You can call me if you want at 760-802-9376.

I called the Chevy dealer today to see if they were still selling them. The part number has been discontinued.

I think it has been discontinued for a couple years.

Sully - pls tell me more about removing the clip to release the glass. I have my original mirror which would need to be rechromed and it would be nice to remove the glass have it resilvered and preserve the original date-coded glass.

Thanks,
Sam

Mock, I wish I could help you, but I have never taken one apart.! I was lucky to find 2 NOS in the box late 68-early 69 dated mirrors, put 1 on my recently finished 70 and saving the other one for the 69. There are guys out there now that are restoring rear view mirrors (don't know the name)I'm sure they can help out.?
