I'm sure several of you already know that I was looking for one of these. With some help from Postsedans' (Dan V)knowledge base, I was able to pull the trigger on this one when it came up for sale.
The car has it's born with engine and rear end, but the trans is not, but I'll live with the 661 case M22 for now.
Wheelhop and I went to get it last Wednesday near Detroit.
As found.

Nice car! Love the color combo. Stupid question for you post car guys... are those the original exterior door handles, and are they different for a coupe vs. a 2 door sedan? They look sorta odd to me, like they aim skyward a bit. Not sh*tpickin', just askin'! -JB

I still have the Garnet red 300. It's in resto mode, but I got side-tracked a little. A separate replacement frame for that one has been blasted and painted.

This is the car that was on Ebay with a buy-it now. I was on the phone with the seller and then showing my wife the car, while I nervously hit the Buy-it-now button.
Turns out they bought it in `93, drove it a couple years locally to cruises, then parked it till I bought it.
They gave me the ad that they bought it from in the Detroit Tradin' Times.
Has anyone seen this car before? I want to try and follow it's history, but the number in the old ad is defunct.
I tried different area codes in front of the number and even sent Tradin' Times an E-mail asking if they had info about old ads.
Nothing from them yet, and I don't think they will get back to me, but I'll try calling them next.

Plans are to just clean it and correct as much as possible, then just enjoy it.
I may do a resto on it years down the road. I could use a smog pump for it as I guess all the 325 horse cars with a manual trans got smog from the factory in `69.

Looks like silver may have been a popular colour for these cars, at least with the ones that have survived. Ours is the hardtop version with the black interior. A his and hers pair would be nice at the cruise nights. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2625518210101686729kBgoYU

this is interesting, a friend of mine has a 69 el camino in his garage the is a 396 automatic 350 hp, and it is silver or dark silver with the same bright blue original interior. i told him it was an odd color combo and he should keep it as is (he just could not believe someone ordered it that way). i will have to tell him about this post, he may have already sold it. who would have thought that color combo was so rare. nice car!

Original paint markings on the left front spindle assembly after cleaning black paint off.
Whoever did this car in 1990 liked to paint over everything in black. Maybe they were listening to the Rolling Stones at the time.

I used Aircraft stripper, but put on small amounts and removed it as soon as the black paint bubbled. I then wiped with a clean damp cloth.
