No pics of the engine stamp or POP and that trim tag looks very crisp,(what you can make out of the blurry picture anyway) No reserve.? My .02

There are still 9 days left in the auction and its at 55k already Im sure it wont be a give away by the time it ends.
I just heard a couple more big dollar cars sold and are heading over seas, it will probably happen to this car too if it checks out. With 9 Days left there is plently of time to do some research to get the real scoop.

I would have thought the car would have a 010 block instead of a 618 block.

The 10D 69 Z with a V1007DZ in the garage is a 386...
010 from my experience as well...
Isn't 06A too late for JL8?

Mark:
According to Alan Colvin's Chevrolet By The Numbers (which I have found is extremely reliable) the 386 Block was cast from August 68 until January 69; the 618 Block was cast from January 69 until April 69; and the 010 began production in late April or early May.
The casting date of E 14 9 on this gentleman's 618 Block is a little suspect. The only thing that I can imagine is that it is actually a D 14 9 Block or it was somehow the very last one cast.

According to Jerry MacNeish's book the JL8 brakes were offered from March 1969 until July 21 1969.

The authenticity of this car could be cleared up with a better pic of the tag. It doesnt look good to me.

My 04L JL8 has the 618 block with a cast date of C319 and the VIN down by the oil filter.... the engine stamp is V0416DZ.

I have talked with the owner, Ebay pulled the ad because he mentioned he had the trailer and other parts for sale also....he is going to relist it. The car is in Williamsburg, VA and the restoration was done by Joey W. from JenJacs restorations in Georgia.

How hard is it to set a digital camera to "macro" mode and take a picture? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Simple! My 9 year old daughter can take a flawless/super clear picture with no problems. Maybe its just me but it seems like 90% of the trimtag pictures i ever see on EBAY are blurry. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Im with Mike even with the fuzzy photo the tag looks like a new tag. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif JMO

I told the guy that there were too many people who wished to have the car as is and would leave it unrestored to entertain an offer from him... that if it were to ever have a new care taker it would be someone who appreciated the car as is not to someone wanting to restore it.

I wandered about JenJac's cars. If you look at there before pictures on cars being restored they seem to add a lot of options to them and not keep them as born. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
However, there stuff looks very clean and fully restored all be it maybe not fully correct. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

RE: JenJac's; The owner and his employees are Top Notch. They have a great track record with us as well as many other Clients. If you buy a car from Joey you will certainly get the straight scoop. We have also been extremely satisfied with their work as well as their business ethics!

The work is beautiful, JenJac's obviously does extremely nice restorations. They are not the ones selling the car and they have referenced it correctly (as a recreation) on their website. If the ebay seller is representing the same car otherwise he would be doing himself a favor by describing it truthfully.

Jen Jacs like many other restorers and business people do the work according to the customers specifications. The guy paying the bills controls the technique, method and type of restoration performed. As Stefano stated, his ethics and business practices are excellent.

You just gotta love the way this guy never directly answers the question and dances all aroung basically insinuating the car not to be a recreation. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
"Q: Wonderful restoration! No mention in your listing as to documentation? Is the car real or a recreation? Born-with drivetrain? Please send any other info pertaining to this car's legitamacy, etc. Thanks! P.S. I am a serious collector (no tire kicker). I would probably want to inspect the car, where is it located? Oct-29-08
A: She is absolutely correct and all numbers, both castings & dates are dead on right. the car speaks for itself and is priced right considering. With documentation she would bring way over $250k. You must decide on whether you're buing the car for what it is or are you buying paperwork? Unfortunately many great cars, legit cars, have not retained paper work. If only people would have had the forsight of what saving paper work would do for the value. Inspections are welcome."

A: She is absolutely correct(NOT BORN IN) and all numbers, both castings & dates are dead on right(RESTAMP). the car speaks for itself and is priced right considering(IT'S A TRIBUTE),and is priced accordingly. This is what sucks about this hobby..the parsing of words...survivor [as discussed elsewhere]matching numbers..correct..original..'real deal' all BS..
Now the most reassuring phrase is 'born with' I guess there is no wiggle room on that term...except when it is a flat out lie.
Now for me, a blue collar, dirt under my finger nails kinda guy..I have to use the word 'Provenance'
WTF..I just want to do a freakin' burnout ..not speak French...
The guy that has the car for sale says jenjacs did not do the resto. That is according to a post on the TC site anyway.
firstgenaddict

He said that jenjacs did not do the resto but did have the car and did do some detailing work to the car... the statements are misleading at best...

That's funny, when I talked to him, I told him that I was not interested in buying the car but was interested in his other parts he was going to sell. I did ask him who did the restoration and he told me the car came from Georgia and Joey W. did the restoration. This car has changed hands a couple times before the current owner.
