I owned one of these cars back in the day. I drove it on the street and bought it through DeVille Tire company and one of their mechanics, Rick Hitzelberger. I saw Jerry Titus' Trans Am for sale at a place called canepa.com in California. When I checked their website, low and behold there was also a Radial Tirebird.

Long story short, they want $850K for Titus' car and $800K for the tirebird (but they are willing to accept offers). Woulda, shoulda, coulda... I sold mine for $2,200.00 in 1980 because I broke my leg and needed something with an automatic. Yea, I drove it on the street to work everyday and it still had the window straps and sidepipes. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gifEd

Andy:

My car started life as a Ram Air IV 1970 T/A with an M22. I was told eight 1970 Tirebirds wewre built. 4 to race and 4 to show. I also understood that they were all equipped with Pontiac engines. Some with Ram Air Vs. The two cars at canepa.com are both small block Chevy's which I found odd on the Tirebird. I think I know why Titus' car would have had a small block. My friend Rick from DeVille and the owner of DeVille were both very involved with these cars. DeVille was a BFG dealer in Chicago. Ed
