Ken, I think you should tub it, put on some polished Centerlines, paint it Pepto Bismol pink, even the bumpers, grille and all chrome trim. Pink and silver interior with a 20-point cage and a huge tach with a shift light. Put in a mild blown 350 with a Th-350, paint that pink too.
The '80s fairgrounds Pro Street thing will make a comeback, as every trend seems to, and then you'll have the jump on the rest of us!

I guess mistake #1 is to assume that whatever was done to a car in it's past is done correctly.......The Nova had a problem starting when it was cold....It would Start and immediately shut off......now...I haven't driven it enough to understand it yet........this starting and shutting off thing bothered me and I wanted to correct it....at first I thought it was a Fuel Issue.......I was going to send the Carb to Eric and as I was getting ready to take it off I found my 66 Service Manual and decided to follow the specifications for setting the Carb........Humm!!........Everything O.K.......Let's see.....For the Engine to run, we need Fuel (O.K.).....Air (O.K.)......and Spark....Let's check the Spark....Pulled off the Cap and seen that someone in the past had installed one of the Early versions of a Pertronix Point conversion Kit......I had one of these in the Convert and knew that there was a newer version available that was better and I just happened to have one on the Shelf....So...I pulled the distributor and swithched to the newer version....as I was putting it back in I noticed that the Resistor wire was hooked up for a normal point operation......Makes sense that the ignition was getting a full shot of voltage while cranking from the Starter and when the Key was released it went to the Resistor wire (Reduced Voltage) and there wasn't enough voltage for the Pertronix system to function until the wire developed some heat??......Anyhow....Bypassed the resistor wire temporarily and everything is fine........

I knew there was a reason I liked you Ken! Since we all know the General's design worked great, why change it and have to worry whether someone ELSE'S design will work ok????? Stick with proven success!!!
Also, it's a lot easier to change a spare set of points and condensor than a complete spare Pertronics set-up in case it Poops out on a tour.
Strictly my own personal opinion, and no personal jabs meant........but I think Pertronics set-ups are just for lazy people. I happen to LIKE checking my points once in awhile. It also gives me a chance to inspect the contacts inside the cap, the rotor tip and maybe even clean and regrease the cam. I also LIKE being able to set the dwell. There are some advantages to that. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

O.K.......The SEMA story......Humm!!......I bought a aftermarket HEI Distributor that I had in the Yellow Chevelle.............Put it in the car Early last year and as I was driving along the Car quit running.....Cost me $250 to get it flatbedded back home and found out it was the Dist'r........Took it over to the local Speed shop and he exchanged it for me.......Put it back in the car and while on the way to LaHarpe for the Gibb Show.......The car quit running again.......Only....This time I had a Spare GM Distributor in the trunk.....15 minutes later I was back on the road.......
So....I get home and get on the phone with the MSD Tech guys and read them the Riot act about their "Junk" that they sell.......because I didn't have a Sales receipt they gave me a hard time about fixing the unit......but after being a "Pain"....they agreed to take a look at it....So...I got a RGA # and sent it back.......a month go's by and one day I realize that the unit never came back........Typical Corporate B.S..........So ....I call and talk to the Service Tech that I originally gave a hard time to........So......I said to him....."You Know, it's been a month.....where's my Unit"............He asked for the RGA # and put's me on hold.....a couple of minutes later he gets on the Phone and said.......I found the problem..........You are the guy that sent an Accel Distributor to MSD to get it fixed......OOPPS!!!
Accel has since fixed the unit...........

The Front seat covers (Mainly the Drivers side) seemed to be losing their form and I thought the seat foams had deteriorated over the years causing the seats to not have that defined look.......So, I thought I would get new seat foams and put them in the original covers and see how they turned out.......But......It turned out that the covers were out of shape and loose on the foams......So.....Ordered new covers......Now.....Just so you guy's know I'm "Serious" about this "Numbers Matching" stuff......Look what the seat guy found inside the seat...LOL

I love this car! It's cool that one of the broadcast slips was discovered. Looks like that seat was originally destined for a Red powerglide SS but ended up in your car instead. Keep looking, you may find one with your numbers http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Steve
I hope you went with ACC cushions.
There one of the best your money can buy,and worth every expensive cent.
So many skimp on the cushions, and splurge on the covers only to soon realize later
on the unsightly & uncomfortable mistake they made and pay their interior guy a second time..
ACC only sells to retailers, not the general public.
You have to buy them from their distributors that carry them like Ground Up or Natl. Parts Depot etc..
The best seat cushion your money can buy in my mind.
They may too expensive for some, but you won't be disappointed with inconsistant pillowing or bagginess like a knock off brand.

I was putting the cars away for the Winter (West coast guy's......That's when it gets cold and Snows) and looking at all the scratches in the paint under the lights......and....since I have no projects at home.....I decided to do the unthinkable and wet sand and buff the paint......Just using 1500 grit wet sanding and buffing....It's amazing what was hiding just under that scratched up outer paint surface.....I will post some pic's when I finish it and get it outside....taking my time (I have all Winter) and doing one section at a time....I trial buffed a small area and now see why Lacquer was the paint of choice for many years.........

Got the #'s car finished......It seems that other than the Passenger right fender being repainted in the 70's....Both lower rear quarters were also repainted at some time in the cars past.....got it all "Lightly" wet sanded and buffed......there are a couple of spots where the paint is thin (Survivor Patina)....but it's done...(Winter didn't even start yet and my Garage projects are done).....Here are some pic's
