What would be the difference selling this paperwork opposed to the trim tags. Just curious.

As long as those are original sheets, I say it is totally different, and not wrong like the sale of trim tags at all. How is buying a tank sticker that isn't for ones car considered wrong. The most you could ever do with it is display it with your car, but really with no point IMO.

10-15 protecto plates sell on eBay every week, sometimes I see original build sheets, window stickers, invoices etc stuffed in with the POP and owners manual for whatever reason. Is the sale/purchase of stuff like this considered wrong? I don't think so. The most you could ever do with car docs for another car is not a lot at all. If anybody, this is the guy you need to watch out for.

For the price he is asking, I suspect he may be tryin to get lucky and find the actual owner of the vehicle that the tank sticker belongs to.

I see no problem with selling the original papers, protecto-plates, etc. since they have a specific VIN on them.

Sorry to hi-jack this post a bit, but I still have all the original protecto-plate, papers and even the Norwood Build sheet to a 68 Camaro convertible original six cylinder(somewhat rare now) that I sold in Bucks County, Pa. (outside of Philadelphia area) yeeeaarrss ago. If this might be your car, contact me....I will gladly give them to the current owner of the car.....FREE of charge!!

a tank sticker could be used to build a car or turn one car into something else.Just like a trim tag changing the colors of a car and adding authenticity to it.There is no vin# on the sticker. It will show a date which will give you a vin# range. It will also show weather it is a coupe or roadster. The options listed is what it is all about. It was on there to show the line what options were supposed to be on the car.Usually they are in poor condition and tough to read. You could definetly build a high end car from one.Originals can be detected from fakes though thus making originals worth a good dollar. They also are used to authenticate the car. Thus raising a high dollar high optioned cars value by showing all of those desireable options did come on that car or did they? with the price difference between a 300hp and a rare color high optioned 435hp being X 4 you can see what might and does happen.Tell me that it does not happen on other models!! A local restorer just finished for a customer a '70 Hemi Cuda.He started with the tags and a donor car!!!

At this point, I figure the info. is readily available if one searches enough if someone wanted to "create " a car. Lets face it, there will be crooks always. But these two tank stickers are not exactly 435 hp or L88 cars. I'd be surprised if someone would try and create these cars from a different car. The selling of tags and numbers from cars is a different story.

BTW, my 69 435 vette I sold a few years back had the partial vin on the tank sticker...

Also, these 2 cars probably still exist..not that it couldn't and hasn't happened, but someone is asking for trouble w/o having the real car....

not the partial vin more like the model# ex.194677S11111 the 19467 is on there showing that it is a convertible.I agree though that these cars would probably not be created. But if enough of it was destroyed so that maybe you could make out the 435 option to turn a car into a more expensive model
