Looks like some compelling evidence but nothing concrete: Bullitt Charger (http://www.ponysite.de/charger_welch.htm)
Pretty compelling evidence.
Neat find if it is.

Neat story...hope it's true!.
What about an NICB report?.
Have they even confirmed that this Charger was delivered from the same dealer WB bought the cars from?.
And do Mopar Broadcast sheets show any dealer order/ship info?.

You know it's really weird, I just looked at the Bullitt chase scene on youtube and then I looked at the chase scene from the Seven up's and it looks to be the same bad guy stunt driver in both movies. Take a look:

Bill Hickman - did the driving in Bullitt, The French Connection and The Seven Ups! (and the '69 hit The Love Bug!)
He was also involved with James Deans racing efforts back in the fifties.

Very interesting read. I hope it's true too. Like it says in the write up; it may bring the Bullitt Mustang owner out of hiding.

I have a customer who has a Mustang that came from a movie car lot and he thinks it may have been used in the movie. It had tell all marks that were in the same places that the movie chase car had. He never really followed up on the connection. Would be cool if it had been in the movie.

As an owner of a 68 Charger Bullitt tribute car I have followed that Bullitt site for a few years and have contributed my findings on whether or not two or three Chargers were used for filming and how they were optioned. This was done by watching the various scenes at a film editing lab that is managed by a friend.
The claims made by Arnold Welch may be valid, certainly the holes he is pointing out could definitely been used as camera mounts and are consistant with the Camera car photo and angles used in the film.
I have emailed him and asked questions about how the car was optioned according to the build sheet to see if it was consistant with observations on the cars in the film.
Given the thoroughness of Max Bachowsky in prepping these cars I am sure he would have covered details to make sure all cars looked alike even though they may ahve been built as a different color or had some different options. See my postings at the Bullitt site about option differences on the cars(headrests, shoulder belts and steering wheel.
As a challenge to the editors of the site and Arnold one must be aware of the countless times a Dodge Charger has been used in a movie or TV series and there must be quite a few out there with holes drilled in funny places.
The claims from the owner could be real and can be substantiated with a little more detective work.

Nothing fishy, he's owned the car for over 25 years and fixed it up the way he wanted it. Doesn't really care if it was or wasn't in the movie.
Now me, I'd love to dig into it's history to see if it is.
