Love the W-motors in the engine bank pic too!.
Does the two tone paint on the '59 Biscayne w/ the trunk lid open on Pg. 7 look strange...white roof, lid and quarter tops but red A-B-C Pillars?.

It may look strange Pete, but that's the way they did it. By the way, no two-tones on convertibles, although some people have restored them that way.

Look at those painted exhaust manifolds... no paint on the hose from the water pump to intake, and the mask line on the thermostat housing... and the crayon marking on the cylinder. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif awesome shots!

I must've blocked that one from my memory Verne...looks more like something the Kaiser Frazer color dept would dream up?.

Outstanding set of photos. Thanks for the link. I'd always hoped to find some 59 Assembly Plant pictures.
Here are a few pix of a 4 door 59 I picked up about 10 years ago. Only had 23,000 miles on it when I bought it and still had some original paint on the exhaust manifolds. That paint is all but gone now. It is a great car to drive in, still has original springs and shocks.

Tarrytown was Chevrolet's first plant, opening in 1911. Before that it was a Maxwell plant. I heard a story that many years later when they broke ground for an expansion they uncovered a concrete room full of Maxwell steering wheels. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif

Phil, did your car come out of Texas? I saw one here in Columbus that looked a lot like that one.
Very coo ride. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
Andy,
The car came out of New York. A buddy of mine spotted it on a walk. Three months of letters in the gal's mailbox and she finally sold it to me.

I worked there in '79-'80 when they were building ...
http://www.geocities.com/citation_x11/car1.jpg http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
... working there was an interesing experience since my boss let me work almost every job on the engine line;
I even worked in the spray booth doing undercoating. I took the place of anyone that was sick or on vacation. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
That was the morning shift, then I was moved to nights & my new boss didn't like me.
I only lasted a few months with him before I threw a motor mount through his office window & quit. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
I may have had anger issues back then ... or maybe he deserved it. (a little of both I am sure).
But there was definetly something bad about FWD & I new it then. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
