As most of you know, Vicki has been caring for her daughter, (my Stepdaughter) Nicole due to a difficult pregnancy. She has been confined to strict bedrest for over 3 months now and is due in early January. Needless to say, she has had her hands full between caring for Nicole and taking care of CVF from home on the laptop. This is why you didn't see here last week!

Anyway, Nicole spent the holiday with her husbands family for the holiday and the w/e, so I took Vicki to a nice quiet spot for some well deserved rest. No phone, no computer, just relaxing by a hot tub!

Anyway...I want to express my sincere THANKS to a whole lot of people who helped me once again, "raise the bar" to produce what may have been the best Chevy Vettefest show to date.

Bob,

I noticed Vicki wasn't visible as in previous years but never thought to ask why. Hope everything is going well now. Tell her we missed her and look forward to seeing her smiling face next year.
And again, THank You for another Great Event.

I am splitting up this post, since I wrote one this morning that ended up being timed out, and I am not swift enough to know how to save it!

Sooo....

First and foremost, my Thanks go out to Tom Clary and the Clary family. It was a great day when I signed on to this incredible website! The contacts I have made and more importantly, the friends I have made are priceless. None of this could have happened without the website that TC started years ago. The continued support that Tom gives not only to the Chevy Vettefest, but to the hobby is nothing short of amazing. I am honored to be able to count Tom and the Clary family not only as supporters of what I do, but also as true friends.

Stefano Bimbi, along with Beth and Brad and the entire Nickey Chicago gang. The day we sat down and discussed the future of both Nickey Chicago and Chevy Vettefest was indeed one of the best days of my life. The fact that we both share the same passion for what we do makes me feel like it was something that was meant to be and I look forward to a long relationship with lots of growth for both Chevy Vettefest and Nickey Chicago.

The “LaHarpe” Crew; there is nothing better than hugs from Helen and Nancy! Seeing the two of you at the show brought a smile to my face and again, I am truly honored to have you both as a huge part of the show. It was also great to see Bob L. and the Mrs. who are two of the nicest people I have ever met. I look forward to many, many years of having all of you at future shows and I promise you, I will make it to LaHarpe, even if I have to kidnap my Granddaughter from FL since her birthday is the same w/e as your August show!

Rick & Annie; again, two of the nicest people I have ever met. It is great to be able to showcase Ricks latest in the sYc Showcase and as always, whatever he brings is a huge hit.

Darren; what can I say other than WOW! I had a blast watching you and the guys methodically line up the Z’s, one by one, with the colors perfectly staggered. This was a sight that will be remembered for many years to come and I can’t imagine anyone ever topping that! I had a blast watching several national media photographers on top of ladders after hours trying to get that “perfect shot”. I can’t wait to flip open the pages of my favorite mags to see the results!

Brian H. and the Supercar Workshop crew; Great job assembling 18 of the very best 68-70 Nova’s. Creating a Showcase at CVF that has never been done before was challenge #1, having the incredible variety of the very best Hi-Po Nova’s lined up side by side was icing on the cake. Great job, and Congrats on the well deserved awards! Thanks to all of you who brought out their cars.

The Motion Crew; When I met Les Q. at SCR this past July and drooled all over his 70 Phase III Motion Camaro, I knew we had to have it at the show. When Les agreed, it really got the ball rolling. With Les’ commitment, I was able to convince Dan, Jamie and Rayburn, (after several years of begging!), to join in and the rest, as they say, is indeed History! I would never have dreamed of having TEN real-deal, documented Baldwin-Motion machines at the show. And having Mr. Motion in the mix really kicked it up a notch. My Thanks to all of you who were a part of this gathering, yet another bit of Chevy Vettefest history!

The sYc Showcase; once again, the members stepped to the window and created an awesome display that well represented what we are all about. The cars, the variety, the enthusiasm is what it is all about. My Thanks to each and every one of you! I especially enjoyed having the Morocco Family as part of the sYc Showcase, truly the future of the sYc was at the show!

Casey and Dan; You guys simply get it. It is all about fun and sharing our cars and passion and if anyone knows how to have fun, it is Casey. Again, I am honored to have Casey as not only a show participant, but a great friend. No smoke and mirrors here! Well…maybe a bit of smoke!

Mr. Barnhart; you indeed are an inspiration to me. Having the opportunity to hear the stories from you always is a highlight and a pleasure. It is always great to see Jerri too!

I could, (and often do) go on and on. Suffice it to say, the Fall 2008 Chevy Vettefest was a big Success. I set my goals high and with the help of the sYc Membership, have achieved these goals with this show. My sincere Thanks go out to the many members who participated, not only with their cars, but by joining as spectators, spreading the word and supporting the participating members. This is what this is all about!

Many people said I will have a hard time topping this one. Well…this is indeed true but it is also a challenge I am willing and ready to accept.

As always, I welcome and encourage feedback and idea’s. We are in this together and I certainly can’t do it without the continued support of each and every one of you.

I will now step off my soapbox as I have a lot of work to do; November 2010 is less than a year away!

Bob,
I just wanted to thank you and your crew for a very warm welcome and a rewarding experience at Vettefest in Chicago. We were thrilled (Motion) to be part of your charity fund auction and enjoyed all of the great cars and people there!
Joel and I also want to thank all of the loyal Baldwin Motion fans and collectors who showed up and made us feel welcome and right at home.

It was really an amazing event and you could see how much hard work went into the show to make it happen. My last Vettefest was at McCormick place a long time ago and I never dreamed back then I would be able to be part of the event someday.

Thanks to Bob and Stefano for their hard work and inviting me. Thanks to Darren and Brian for their efforts in putting together those two collections. We may never see something like that again under one roof? Thanks to Mike for putting together a dinner fit for a Somalian pirate.
