This guy ran over a mattress and decided to keep going.
The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank, the subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought this vehicle to its knees.
It had still managed to drive 30 more miles decently with a 60lb tangle wrapped around the driveshaft.
This genius complained that the vehicle had a "shimmy" when driving at high speeds.

This is what the dealership found............. http://www.yenko.net/attachments/375307-tn_image001.jpg

With a torch, of course. It sounds like it's already soaked with gas so it should burn off real nice once the torch hits it.

Maybe... if you trimmed off the end strands, and you dropped the drive shaft, you could pull the drive shaft outta the wrapped up mess. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Or, once you have the drive shaft down, a gentle hand with a chop saw for the majority of it.

Boy, does that bring back memories ... I was young, very young at the age of 12, just learning to drive. I was out in the field behind my Dad's gas station, driving a customers old Jeep pickup. My Dad was gone for the weekend, so me and another guy were running the station. I ran over the mattress ,,, I didn't know what I'd done ,,, I kept driving until I knew something was really wrong. Driveshaft wrapped up ... just like in the picture. Spent the rest of the day cutting it off the drivestaft ,,, wire by wire. Cleaned up my mess, and no one ever knew. Young and Dumb comes to mind !

I remember growing up riding in the 1970 Kingswood station wagon with my parents (400 small block, by the way!) and running over a large living room carpet that instantly wrapped around the driveshaft and made the car sound just like a giant helicopter from the sound of it flapping against the floorpan! It just sucked right up!

Looks like The Jolly Green Giant's brillo pad.

Hey, this gives me an idea for the ultimate undercoating removal tool.
