I recieved some sad news from Claudia Preve. Fran died on Christmas day. He had cancer and went very quickly after being diagnosed a couple of months ago. For all that don't know he was the historian for the Tonawanda plant- we were researching LS6 production timelne when he passed. I spoke with him a few days ago and he had just gone through massive chemo. Great guy extremely sharp and passionate about GM powerplants.

That is horible news!!! I had also just talked to him recently and told him he would be getting some credit for help on an upcoming magazine article if all worked out for which he was very pleased about. He was certainly an asset to the Chevrolet community and a huge help to me as well as others. This cancer b/s REALLY sucks!!!!!!!!!! Too many good people are being taken. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I met Fran in 1998 at the Niagra Falls, U.S.Camaro Club show. He was very cordial and willing to share his vast knowledge with other enthusiasts

My condolences to his family and friends.

I agree with Charley, we should be happy he shared what he did.
Hopefully we can learn from this and ALL do whatever we can to help each other. This site has a strong history of sharing. Let's keep it going in Fran's name.

Godspeed Fran and Thank You. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

So sorry to hear this sad news..
Sincere condolences to Fran's family and friends..

Although he ruffled a few, Fran was a truly great guy and I'll always appreciate the information and conversations we shared on the phone and in emails over the last 25 years or so..
The Tonawanda documents he saved surely would've been lost to time if he hadn't had the foresight to rescue them when he did...lets hope they're passed on to someone who can continue to glean more information from them and freely share it as Fran did..

RIP Fran..

~ Pete
