Thanks to all for the kind words. There is a little more to the story than what you're reading in Hemmings though. You see, the photo shoot had to be done on two occasions. The reason being, a real bone-headed move on my part!! In my defense, I guess I was a little excited and distracted by this whole process. So, there we were in the middle of photo shoot "part one", when I had to get something out of the trunk. I don't know about you guys, but everytime I go to close my truck lid, I always check my pockets for the keys. Do you see where this is going?? I've never not found my keys in my pocket when I've done this and I've never locked my keys in the trunk. Well, I can't say that anymore!! Doesn't sound like too big a deal, right? Well, it turned out to be because my extra keys were in a safe-deposit box in the bank. These are the original keys from Harry Mann Chevrolet on a key ring with a little plastic tag. I never had a spare set made. Anyway, to make a long story a little longer, it was 10 minutes until 6:00. The bank closed at 6:00 and I couldn't make it there it time anyway, so I had to call AAA and have the car flat-bedded home. And now you know the rest of the story!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hay Joe
You are not the only one to have done this http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
That is why I have always have a extra key hidden in one of those little magnetic boxes in my Camaro.
Just used it the Summer before last at a Tuesday Cruise night 40 miles from home. After returning from the on sight restaurant I realized what I had done. No problem, I had the magnetic box, problem was it took me 20 minutes to find it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
By the way cool Nova http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

It took me exactly 18 minutes to remove the back seat and re-install it. That included retrieving my coat with the keys in the pocket. It helps knowing where all the screws and bolts are.

Having just sat in the back of Joe's car,i can tell you there isn't another 69 Nova on the planet that has nicer all original interior. I mean it's almost hard to believe the carpet isn't aftermarket. It shows you how a well these keep if you take care of them.
It's a WR plant build, when I asked him if he ever found an interior sheet his response was "I never have taken the seats or carpet out to look for one"- which might allude to why he had it flatbedded home!

And not just any dealer,Harry Mann!. For those that don't know HM was arguably THE hi po chevy dealer for the L.A metro area during that time. I hope Joe can post pics of his car there on the front line waiting for him-you should see some of the other iron sitting next to it.

Actually Mark, Bruce did a Member's Rides Feature a couple months ago. Check it out here - '69 Novajoe Feature (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/348905/an/0/page/1#Post348905)
And thanks again to all you guys for the comments and suggestions. Believe me, I've tried to get that back seat out and it just won't budge!! The tow truck driver even tried to pull it from the BACK of the bottom cushion until I about had a heart-attack when I heard the springs starting to "complain" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif BTW,there is a picture of the "build sheet" (or is it the broadcast sheet?) in the Member's Rides feature. A friend found it under the front seat about 8 years ago!!!

There are some cars where it does seem virtually impossible to get that bottom cushion out. I had an EXTREMELY difficult time getting it out of my Chevelle, and when I finally did, I filed down the brackets on the floor so that I would never have that much trouble again. It can be a huge help to have someone else pushing back on that bottom cushion while you look under the lower edge of the cushion to see the position of the seat frame in relation to the bracket it's hooked into http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif I'd bet at the assembly plant they either had some huge gorilla of a guy putting those in, or else they had a huge pry bar for 'persuasion' http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
Outstanding car, Joe, and kudos to you for taking such great care of it all these years http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

They are long gone Bill. I really had no idea they were that big into high performance stuff back in the day. I was just a dumb kid out of the service looking for a way to go fast http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
And thanks Bill P. for the info on removing the back seat. A few years ago, I did try a pry bar to no avail. So the "seat" is still a "virgin" I guess http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif!!

Joe remind me the next time we meet and I will pull the back seat out for you. A good kick on the bottom of the lower cushion on both sides will let you push the lower cushion back then up and out of the way. After this the 2 bolts are exposed at the bottom of the upper cushion, you may have to bend the alignment tabs at the bottom then hit the upper cushion up and back at the top to pop it loose. My buddy that sold the 67 Z/28 to Charley owns an upholstery shop and he did a bunch of these cars.
Mark Sheppard
Thats a cool looking Nova. Mines pretty much original too, but its not in that good of shape, lol. Taking the back seats out of these cars are not that big of a deal. It just requires a little upper body strength and some leverage. I guess it doesn't hurt that I'm about 6'2", 265 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif. I don't blame him though. If my car was in that condition, I wouldn't want to remove the seat unless I absolutely had to. The cars that are a pain to get the back seat out of are the new gm stuff. Back when I worked at the local parts store, I hated to have to put batteries in bonnevilles and buicks. You have to almost rip the seat bottom out of the retainers to get it out. Did I mention, those were free installs? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
