Does anyone have a picture of tow tabs for a 69 Chevelle that are unmounted? A mounted set will do if the picture shows good detail. I would appreciate anything.

Mark, first I would like to say that is an incredible car. When I first saw pictures of it on the internet I emmediately fell in love. I hope one day to see it in person. I will apologize now for the drowl. Also, thanks for the photos. Does anyone know if there were different manufactures of tow tabs? Here are some photos of a pair I am looking at that came off a 68 El Camino and I want to make sure they will fit a 69. They are a little different, but look like they will fit.

Well first thing I want to say is the car in the picture belongs to my friend Greg and the tow tabs were mine until Greg bought them from me to do another car. The 68 tabs might work but the NMW spec sheet has a different number for the 1968 and the 1969, so I would have to say there must be a differance in the tabs and you wont know unless you bolt them up to see. It's really amazing how intricate and complex many of those NMW tabs are. Some are simple and some NOT so simple! That company really put a lot of work into their product line.

I bolted them on my Chevelle when the car was less than a year old. Everyone flat towed to the race track in those days including me. Trailers were big $$$.

A lot of guys just made their own in those days. There were some on my W31 when I bought it, and they were homemade. You can just make them out in the photo.

I took them off and had the bumper rechromed after this photo.
You should make some sort of gasket to go between to minimize corrosion.
