Well......
I've finally had Jerry M. come down and certify my ZL-1 before I started any work on it. All these years I've owned it and I've recently just started thinking about doing something with it. Unfortunately, "these times" have made me re-think alot of things in my life!! Anyway, when I bought this car, I had always planned on taking it down the strip just the way Chevy intended...I was always worried because I did not want to hurt the original motor, so fortunately, Chevy did me a favor and came out with the ZL-1 Ramjet motors...I managed to purchased the serial numbered 34 Ramjet Motor to match my car. Although I am still up in the air with the car a bit, I am seriously thinking about finishing my car...and for now, installing the Ramjet Motor, and non-original 4-speed and 12 bolt rear ...Then I can take it to the strip and "WOMP ON IT" for a while.... just like Chebie wanted!!!..I will store the original motor for now until the car can be "officially retired" to trailer queen status http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif.......ayayay

Anyway...I was curious if anyone has installed a Ramjet ZL-1..or 502 for that matter..and any issues?? electronics? fuel system?...and does the plenum clear the cowl hood??? It would be cool to see a pic of how it looksssss!! I remember an article after the motors came out about the motor installed in a red 70? Chevelle vert?...anyone have that article?

Max,

There is a Ramjet Zl-1 in a customized '69 Camaro in the new Hot Rod magazine this month. They mentioned something about taking an inch of height out of the intake to clear the hood.

Hey Jon,

That sounds like a bit of work to make the plenum fit...ayayay...I dont know if I want to go there??? Maybe a whole in the hood for now??? Or an aftermarket taller cowl hood....I'm gonna go out and buy that magazine today!!!

Thanks Alot, Max

Hey Chuck, the only "knowledgeable" info. I can give you is that the original motor from ZL-1 #34 and the Ramjet ZL-1 Motor #34 are NOT in the ZL-1 from BJ..

Those two motors are here in my garage...

510 HP and 493 Torque....says Chevrolet.....not baddd...that's probably enough to spin the tires a bit!!

...and I think the Ramjet motors really look cooll!!!! ..

...and mostly(is that a word?)..I don't have anything else cooler to put in it... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif...

But Charley, If you want to lend/donate me a motor more powerful, Id be glad to oblige!!!
