I saw some TV on Abe last night. Funny how it wasn't taught at school what he wanted to do after freeing the slaves. I guess that idea can't even be talked about today. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The new Prez is supposed to be in Springfield this afternoon. Rick and Annie are out of the country and I think I'll head over to see Howie later today. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Another big hero for humanity and also for science, Charles Darwin would be 200 today.

No doubt a great president. However, a history special on TV today documented him as a customer of humanities oldest profession. I'm sure it was only a pre-requisite for the White House, or he was looking for an intern. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

What BS! First of all even if true it would have no relevance on the man's record or what he means to our country. Secondly if it's not evidence you could convict somebody with, then it's shameful to even bring it up, much less make it a part of a TV special on the man's 200th birthday!

Revisionist history - bah! Humbug! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

If you watch the documentary on the History Channel(it's quite lengthy) it covers as much of his life as they possilbly could document, from birth to death. Yes, the documentary does do him justice and portray him as the American Icon he is and does document some bad decisions in his early years. Personally IMO it shows how his early poor decisions were turned around by those that followed him and wrote about how they reflected his genius that elevated him to the distinguished President he became. Watch it !!! it's still history, my apologies if my original post offended anyone.

George, Nobody was offended. O.K. I just get tired of what media portrays as facts. The movie on Reagan a few years ago is perfect example. It wasn't even close. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Remember what Lincoln told the photographer who took his portrait now used on the $5.00 dollar bill. When asked about taking it from a more favorable angle, Lincoln said he wanted his picture taken "with warts and all".
He wanted his life to be seen as it really was. He was truly a great American. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
This phrase then became a part of the lexicon used still today. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Kim, thanx I just wanted to avoid any negativity on this site. Believe me, I know first hand (all to well) in my profession how the media turns the tides toward any direction they want. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Been pretty quiet around here. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Lets start something.

If Rush Limbaugh were alive when Lincoln was president do you think he'd have said "I hope he fails" too?

And I only watch Fox news, because it is "fair, and balanced". Always impartial, and never slanted. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

George, what Kim said - no offense taken. I just don't want to lose sight of the forest (what a great leader Linclon was) for the trees (some mistake he Might have made as a youth) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
