Showed my 59 Vette to a couple members of The Supercar Registry last night (D. Hayes and R. Pennington (Motion Corvette owners) who told me you all might be able to assist me in verification on my car. I purchased the car March of 1973 in Overland Park Kansas. I was told at that time the car had been used a lot on the drag strip. I'm enclosing scanned poloroid of the car as it appeared prior to my ill-advised restoration to original condition. On the passanger side behind the front wheel and before the "gill slit" is the Dick Harrell emblem or badge. The car was all black, black roll and tuck interior, 4 speed rock crusher, slicks on the rear, traction bars, a 65 model 327-365 hp Vette (verified by the numbers on block) with the tack mounted on the dash in place of the rear view mirror. I still have the trans, emblem, and the two front wheels. The engine was sold back around 1982 or so. Didn't realize what I had at the time. I believe this is a Dick Harrell built car, anyone with advice about what I can do to authenticate or register my car would be helpful! The title history ends mysteriously in 1971 in Blue Springs MO.

Contact Ray Morrison he raced back then in that area he may remember the car. Also check with the Harrell site. It may have been built by DH but just having the emblems on it doesn't make it one. Anybody could buy them back then & put them on a car. Good luck http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Robert,

Do you have any names to associate the corvette too? If so, would Don Young be one of those? While the car would look different now, it appears to have the same front runners I remember on his car, but that has been a long time ago? I don't know if he was ever associated with Dick Harrell, but do know he was once employed at Ronnie's Speed Shop? Like Kim mentioned, the emblems were sold to those who wanted one as far as I know? Several cars around the area carried the Dick Harrell logo, that were individually owned? A good friend from Springfield, MO, raced corvettes that might have some information & know more than I? He is still building motors in his place of business, Ruble Racing.

LOL...I talked to Jim & Sally just the other day! I always learn something when I talk to him...in fact, didn't realize until recently he was a 2 time AHRA World Champion! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I don't believe Dick Harrell raced this car but very good possibilty did the work for an individual in his shop in KC. The stopping point for the owner ship ends with William Allen of Blue Spring Mo. All I've been able to find is that Mr. Allen was a corvette owner but has passed away. Someone spent some bucks back then. Hopefully I'll be able to at least find out who dropped in the 327 and trans in it and doing the prep on the car. I do appreciate the leads!
Thanks

I found the information on the car this past week-end. It was NOT a DH shop car but the man who built the car did purchase speed parts at DH Shop in KC in and around 69 and 70. The strip times were in the 12:90's and used as a daily street car.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!!
