I have all but given up on finding dated replacement clear glass for my 69 Chevelle coupe. OEM glass seems to be a good source in the Midwest for tinted glass. I have seen after market glass that looks very spotted/blotchy in the sun and I'm curious if OEM glass has this problem? I just received my Legendary interior and now I'm in for a penny, in for ANOTHER pound..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Carzy question but were you wearing polarized sun glasses when you were looking at the glass in the sun. I ask because the polarized glass in sunglasses will give you that bizarre visual effect when looking at auto glass. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

Good point, but no. I have seen this problem at indoor events also with no polarized glasses. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

------Dale Smith, an old and valued friend of mine, the owner of "OEM Glass", is one of the straightest shooters you will ever find. Over the years I have gotten many, many pieces of glass from him and have never been disappointed. Dale isnt the cheapest glass place you will find but he is hands and feet above many of the others where quality is concerned. Call him and hit him with the hard questions. Tell him I said so!!!.......Bill S

I have purchased from Dale in the past and will in the future. I have a couple of complete sets (one for a Corvette and one for a Camaro) that are clear with no issues (to quote John Ballard). http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For over 20 years I have only used OEM Glass for all of my customer restorations, some customers have purchased ther own glass from other vendors and they are discolored, you see the area they polshed off the manufacturer, the logos are not centered just real garbage. Dale has a great product and you will be happy !

Purchased glass from Pilkington a few years ago. Had it installed only to find the dreaded "quench" spots in all of the glass. Glasses or no glasses it shows. Glass is about 75% as thick as original which creates a major problem for fit. Can't wait to get it out and smash it.Junk IMO. I will be calling OEM also.

OK, sounds like this guy is a straight shooter, but what is the website!!! ? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I need a windshield for my 69 Camaro
I haven't ordered anything from them in awhile, but I always considered them the best.Their fit and finish was closer then anything I ever found, compared to original.

The Il. state tax is well worth it.

Bill, thanks for the contact info. It sure sounds as though Carl and Tom know exactly what I am talking about. The glass I questioned was sold from Minnesota. I will talk to Dale. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

They are good and I use them...but...I think it bears noting they are not original glass. That is to say the tinting band across the top of the windshield may or may not be an accurate replica of the original. Ask him when you call and tell him what you expect.

Does anyone have experience with the clear glass from from OEM? Smoothness, clarity? My car came from factory with clear glass, thought I would upgrade to tint. As you can read in my other post thats what I get for changing. I'm going back to clear. No option car.

Carl, the problem getting clear glass from what my research has concluded, is that there isn't enough demand for it. My car is a no frills Chevelle SS and would like to replace it with the same as well. My inquiry on this post is do to a lack of aftermarket glass for those wanting to keep their cars correct with clear glass and looking for the best supplier of tinted. I think we are in the same boat, but whatever I buy will come from OEM. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

OK, I took my time and ended up looking at a clear glass donor car in Wisconsin along with checking out several pieces offered to me, but unfortunately non were better than what I already have. I called OEM last week and ordered a dated set of green tinted glass which should look great and was assured they would stand behind their product against quench marks. Should have the glass in 4-5 weeks. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
