I am looking for information on a green car that was possibly raced on the street or professionally around the late '60s to early '70s (probably in the Los Angeles area). The car had "KING RAT PACK" painted on the driver-side door (I never saw the passenger side), had a black hood, and plain black rims and may have been a 1966-'67 Chevrolet Chevelle.

It was the car that races Big Willie's red '69 "King" Daytona in the opening scene of Two-Lane Blacktop.

Also, if anyone has any info on the red 1970 Hemi 'Cuda with the TorqueFlite that races the '55 Chevy from that same scene, it would be very much appreciated.

It wasn't a Hemi Cuda that raced him in the opening scene. I am pretty sure its a 340 powered Cuda. And the Chevelle is a 66

Thanks. I assumed it was a Hemi though because the driver says it was in the next scene (I guess a little bit of fibbing http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif) and the stripes made me think it was. Thanks for the info!

Yeah that's right. That 'Cuda is an AAR and they only came available as 340 6-packs. It real life, it really wouldn't been much of a race. The 'Cuda just looks like somebody's street car with regular street tires on back. I just popped the movie in myself and noticed that "KING RAT" lettering on the Chevelle. The Chevelle really left hard against that Daytona!

Sorry, that was a bit of a brain fart on my part - the Hemi had the hockey-stick stripe if I'm not mistaken http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

That AAR 'Cuda also turns into a plain-jane red Barracuda w/o the AAR stripe during the fly-by shot when they cross the finish line http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
