I have an original mas fiberglass MOTION L88 hood that came off of a real 71 MOTION PHASE III 454 Camaro. i have a 406 around 450hp backed by a muncie rock crusher with 4.56 gears in the rear. its red with white MOTION stripes. the pipes i got work i would just like to have some originals

these pics are the way it was. now its getting done right. i've since bought an original fly eye air cleaner from Mr.427 an msd ignition that Joel "Mr.MOTION" Rosen helped me pick out, a walnut wood grip steering wheel, 4 new Cragar S/S wheels, Mickey Thompson Indy Profile Tires, a set of the original SUN gauges, MOTION small block valve covers and emblems, HOOKER universal sidemounts which all four pipes are connected to the 4 header primaries, 4.56 rear gears,a centerforce dual friction clutch, a Motion 74-77 front air dam, a complete interior, traction bars that replace the shock mount plate,a nos set of gabriel hi jackers still in box, I'd like to find a Holley 3 barrel carb at a good price.

Man, I just threw away a set of Hooker Headers with sidepipes off my 74 z/28. There were some rust holes in the side pipes at the mounts, but I am sure they could have been easily fixed. The headers were chrome along with the side pipes. I was going to give them to Darren as a joke.

i know what you mean jonesy. i had a pair of old aluminum valve covers that said pro stock in the center and a pair of appliance and fenton super shark wheels.i put them out for spring clean up 3 yrs ago and watched two guys fist fight for them. i never would have thought anyone would want them as they were all pitted. but the guy that ended up with them had the wheels rechromed and cleaned up the valve covers. good for him http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Thought Id take a pic and post....These have been on the car for many years...I'm not sure what brand they ever were....I always thought these were fabricated...I had them repaired and re-jet coated to try and save them a number of years ago and I have not barely driven the car since....

They really look and sound cool, but before you install them though, do realize they really do not like speed bumps...

And most important of all!!!...tell your wife/girlfriend to ALWAYS wear long pants when going cruising with you....!!!

Take that from experience!!

But don't get me wrong....they are sooo worth it!!!

I have all 4 original wheels and 4 Firestone Wide Ovals. The tires were taken off and replaced with new Firestone WO repops and mounted back on the wheels. They are staying with the car. The orig Firestones are in storage.

The BB have not been made in years. The SB ones you can still buy through Summit or Jegs.

Finally scored a set of Hooker header side pipes part#2232 for a 2nd gen Camaro, wish they where chrome but they are NOS just stored poorly. Off to the powder coater next week.

Thanks for the tip Lee!

Awesome, can’t wait to see them on the car. Are you going with black?

That is good question I thought so but then Dennis suggested white???

IMO, I think white would look great for underhood headers but not for side pipes. I’d personally ceramic coat them in a glossy metallic silver. It will almost look chrome from afar yet be way more durable and stay cooler. Not sure if a ceramic coat would be considered “day 2” though. You also can’t go wrong with a flat black.

If they are going on that beautiful 74'Z I think black would look killer with the black stripes and the contrasting wheels and they would look great against the black rocker panels.

Looking at your pics- they look nearly identical to Corvette headers.

I sold my last set of SB Corvette Hookers last year, and my 2nd Gen Z28 is a BBC-so I don't have the opportunity any more to check SBC fit- but I wonder how close the Corvette headers actually are to fitting a 2nd gen Camaro?

I also wonder if the side tube lengths are close?

Lot of work to pull one side of the exhaust off my L71 Corvette and the corresponding side off my LS6 powered 2nd gen just to check- but my curiosity is however somewhat piqued now for a future Motion clone 2nd gen build project that may or may not materialize here in the not so distant future...

Has anybody tried to fit the Corvette Hookers on a 2nd gen Camaro?

chevyandpontiac
02-18-2023, 12:25 PM
Yes I have the Corvette ones are not even close. They all look kind of the same, but thef fit with no extra room
