I have a chance to get a NOS 70 BB Camaro fan shroud, how can I tell if it is really a original one and not a newer replacement or a rebop one?

Hope Im not stealing this thread a bit, but I thought a pic might help....A few years ago, I had pulled my radiator because of a suspected leak. Sure enough the rad had a pin hole. So I took the car to a shop to have the rad. repaired along with some exhaust work that was needed at the time....anyway, the shop insisted that I had the wrong fan shroud and that they could not put the car back together correctly....I went to the shop and my parts were just laying everywhere...anyway, I gathered up my parts and took my car home...I never could get the shroud to fit right, so I thought maybe it got switched with another??the fan shroud is still not on the car after all these years...as I thought they had possibly lost my shroud or something and/or inadvertenly switched it. Ive had the car so long, I always assumed it was the original, but being somewhat a day two type car, you really never know.
Anyway, I went out in the garage and got the shroud and took a few picss.....I must have something else wrong that it does not fit....??

Hope this helps to see what one looks like also...

I was wondering a few things....Chuck, or anyone else...do you have a pic of a shroud in the car?? I think maybe I have the top metal rad support cover incorrect...???

...and it looks like my shroud may be trimmed on the one corner?? correct??

Thanks, Max

It would help if the original GM tag was attached....you may be able to get a date code off the tag or box...or do they come in boxes??

Tag? Box? LOL. This from a BIG pile of stuff my B-in law went to look at near some property he was surveying. Nothing was boxed, it was all according to the owners memory.

Sorry, if its really NOS, it is going on my 72 to replace the one that has caution molded into it.

Yes, it looks like your shroud has the corner on the top passenger side cut out. The bottom looks fine, that's to clear the steering box. Do you have a picture of your top metal cover?

I loaded the below pics to my photobucket album site.

Two of the pics show my Classic Copper L-78 and the other nicer C.C. L-78 is Eric R's 70 from Reading, PA.

I dont know if any of this helps I.D. what a real shroud looks like or not.

That helps, my one with caution on it looks nothing like that.

It won't fit a 72. You need to sell it to me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

The shroud was odd for years and has been here at my garage at my house...I will be digging out the car in the next few days if the weather stays nice.....and I'll check if it looks the same... Thanks all...
