I just bought a set of 15"x6" Kelsey Hayes Stripper wheels and I am thinking of putting them on my 1970 Nova for the summer. I think bias ply tires would look the best but they are out of my budget. Any ideas on what size radial tire would look best?

I took a quick look but it looks about 4 inches of back spacing.

Dan I sent you the information. How about 215/65/15 fronts and 235/60/15 drag radials on the back? Would the rears be too wide for a 6" wide wheel? I know Joe runs a 275 or 295 50 series TA with 15"x7" wheels on the back of his silver 1969 SS350 Nova and you just can not beat the look.

I went with a 235x15 on my Strippers when they were on my old '70 Camaro. The wheel wells on a second generation Camaro are more accommodating than Nova wheel wells but nonetheless, the 235 is a skinny tire.

Dan are the knock offs from Kelsey Hayes? I have never seen a set but they really add to the look of the wheels. Great looking car in a great color.

I did not mean to steal the thread Mark. Sorry. Those are not knock offs, just spinner center caps. They have a backing plate and screws just like your "Kelsey" caps. Try finding the original lugs for the strippers, very hard to find! I sold my NOS lugs shortly after selling my '70 Camaro. Unfortunately I no long own that car.

Let me know if you need more pics.

PS - Kim Howie is the resident KH Stripper expert. I bought my old set from his good friend.

I found that a 255 60 15 worked well on one of my old Novas.

Mark, I actually have 275-60-15 Diamond Back red lines now. Don't think you've seen it with them yet(?). They, too, might be "out of your budget", but they do fit pretty good. They are a little more "square" looking than the BFG's I used to have. Kinda like a bias-ply. They are Firestone Fire-Hawks. I know that I'm going to be at the Donut Shop on Saturday, May 9th. My brother is coming into town. Maybe we could meet up then??

P.S. I have a "Nova Annual" for you!!

I ran H70/14 RWL Goodyears on the back and E or F/70 14's on the front RWL. I don't think they are too expensive Mark. I know Don White has those type of tires in stock. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif The nylon thumpers with RWL look the best IMO. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I drove the Nova a little last week end after sitting for a few months. It still fires the moment you hit the key and idles perfectly. After buying a LS7 short block, headers and these wheels I am having second thoughts about changing anything. The car does nothing wrong and I am wondering why I want to change anything. I think I need to be like Rob and buy a second Nova and hot rod that. Rob when are we going to see more pictures of your blue Nova? Thanks everybody for the advise, you are the best.
