Went to the Grove yesterday. Fresh trans, new clutch, shifter and new tires. Had some problems with the clutch. Ronnie let off a little in 3rd and 4th on this run because it was slipping. Still have some dialing in to do. We need to be ready for a large 409 gathering in Thompson, OH June 5-6-7.
Enjoy http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You got to love wheels in the air runs. You could hear the clutch slipping. Verne it's fun to be in the 9s

Yep, alot of fun for a 65 year old owner/driver shifting a Jerico behind a "real" 409 motor with I believe steel heads! Ronnie "wildfire" Evans and his number 1 pit crew Verne "Mr 409" Frantz!. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Yep. Pete has a very common sense approach to things that make horsepower. Also, a guy named Mark built the new intake which added 25hp alone on the dyno. The crew is also Ronnie's son Scott, Jim Stafford and Jim Torrens.
Most of the credit goes to Ronnie himself. He's raced all his life, and at 64 years of age, he's learned how to grab second in the air. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
Here's a still from that run. He has the car set up to leave straight and level every time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Don't give me too much credit Sam. Everyone pitches in equally at the track. Yes, it is an original '62 iron block & heads (steel fenders & doors too) 3415pounds with Ronnie in it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Carl's car is the selected competition for Wildfire. Both have run 9.68. The other car is his son-in-laws car, (Steve) a 2dr sedan.
Ron Travia's car is actually the tow car. (matching Nassau Blue '62 '09s) No one knows where the race car wound up. Maybe wrecked.

Thanks! Believe me...........it's only going to get better http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif You never get to a point and stop; you always try to improve continuously.
