Any concensus on who makes an "acceptable" chevy engine paint spray bomb.? Stuff I have on there now looks "too shiny". Looking for something that may approximate the correct amounnt of gloss. Any help is appreciated

I don't even know if they make it anymore, but the "Details" brand of paint always seemed to have the right gloss and color.

here is a formula that i believe came from this site for chevy orange. your local paint store should be able to mix in spray can for you.
DMR 401 10.0
DMR 490 10.5
DMR 452 39.5
DMR 464 340.0
DMR 495 350.0
DMR 490 15% FLATNER
i personally never used it, but would check into it, Jim

I happen to think the best results will cost you the best. Here is the motor in a friend's NCRS Top Flight/Bloomington Gold '67 435 convertible that received no deduction in shade/shine/luster from the judges. It is a custom mix, but man is it dead on.
Personally, I love the valve covers shined up nice, but the heads/block/oil pan dulled back.

This is how I restore my cars... This happens to be a beautiful restoration by Corvette Repair in Valley Stream, NY but I believe Kevin MacKay does his engines right. Wet sanded valve covers and a dull block.
From the NCRS Metro-LI chapter meet.

Tom Williams pointed out the Corvette is a '71, not a '70... so much for being a "Corvette" guy... haha. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif
Thanks Tom!
