I was wondering if anyone could give me a comparison base on the first hand experience. Good or bad.

Maybe little bro will poke his head in here...he had a worked '89 Honda 250R with a 350cc powervalve engine...so he walked all the 450s. He raced against them all, so he should have an idea of which was more competitive...
my Son hs a YFZ with a big bore kit..its insanely fast!!..runs with my LT 500 Suzuki http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Comparitively speaking (and as a father) I would recommend that you wear a helmet with either one!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Ha! Dad rode had a Quadzilla for a while...he & a buddy here in town [buddy had a worked Banshee] used to battle all the time...think I had an '88 250R at the time, one of the best quads EVER. I went to mx bikes for a while, then eventually ended up with a 400ex with a 440 kit...was a GREAT woods quad, but it sat quite a bit so I sold it...only quad we have now is an ancient 220 Bayou! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Joe: what's your plan with the 450...cc, mx, rodeo, or just play time?
the 500 has been in moth balls for two years now..bought the thing new and still has the original tires sprockets chain etc..its a time capsule!!..survivor maybe http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif....had to put it away..did not play nice with others http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif..switched to something more comfortable and have a Arctic cat 650 H1..rides like a cadilac

Just looking for something new. I've had a banshee for 10years and been through the normal blow it up and sink more money in it. A couple of my buddies have 450R's and seen a yfz for sale and wuz wondering how they match up. I like the honda its quick out of the hole and has great handling. I have also ridden the 660 raptor, not real excited about it. It seems way to top heavy and not quick enough response.
Al why did he put a big bore kit in? Alot of the ones I see for sale either have rebuilt motors or new ones. Just curious if these are known to have issues with motors. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Still on the fence.

I'm a idiot rider and bought the Hona450 when they first came out..Too fast for me. Bought the electric start Honda 250 and it was a great bike but I seldom rode so the battery would be dead...Now all I have is Mini Trails or junk.....

You know every time I think about thinning the herd I can never bear to part with any. There's a couple of Harde restos in that pic and a nice original KO I horse traded for with Swain.. scary part is that's only one corner of the room http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

as a first hand comparison my buddies have a CRF450 and a YZF 450 and from riding these two factory bikes i can say that the YZF will out torque and out top end the CRF all day long http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif as for the honda 50s i have 2 a 74 and an 83 50Z looks like a little elsinore i also have a 74 atc 70 3 wheeler a 69 and 70 CT TRAIL 70, A 75 XR 75, A 79 XL80, A 1969 YAMAHA ENDURO GT 80, A 1979 YAMAHA YZ 80, AN O1 HONDA CRF 50, and finally an 83 KTM 495. My brothers and I started collecting bikes for my dad (he said it reminds him of when we were younger) recently we've had and sold a 79 Honda CR250r Elsinore(red rooster), 2 75 Penton/SACHS(KTM)125s 1was a 6day trials bike and the other was an MX,AN 85 ATC 350X AND A 250R, A 75 HONDA ELSINORE MR125. We definately have had our fair share of the mini bikes http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
