View Full Version : 1115238 Delco-Remy Coil
I've been cleaning out my Dads shed and came across a box of bolts and used parts, In it was an old Delco-Remy Coil. In white it appers there is a part number 1115238, below it is D512. Can coils be rebuilt? Does anybody now what this could have come off of? Any help is appreciated..
Used originally on nearly every GM V8 from 1967-1974,be it SB or BB.
The list is too extensive to list here, but there were some exemptions.
Along with 238,does it have a BR,B-R,12V or 12-V embossed on it's side?
Coils can be restored cosmetically, but not really cost effective to restore internally, especially since they now reproduce this popular coil today.

If the number 1115238 and the D512 are screen printed on the coil, it is a late replacement and worth very little. If the number 238 is embossed in the can itself it would be an original.
My Delco buyers guide shows number 1115238/D512 fit various applications on;
61-71 Cadillac
68-70 Checker
68-71 Camaro - Chevelle - Chevrolet - Chevy II - Corvette
71 Vega
67-71 Firebird
94-71 F-85
60-71 Pontiac
64-68 Rambler
63-71 Tempest
66-71 Toronado
66 Willys
68-71 Chevy truck
63-70 GMC truck
