Where on a 12 bolt rear end will all the stampings be, I am 99.99% sure it is from a 1970 Camaro.

Should be on the forward side of the passenger side axle tube.

My 12 bolt has this on it:

COV 0115

E

Does that make it originally a 3.31 Posi with an Eaton carrier?

Yes it does.

Should there be a Vin on it somewhere?

No. Nothing to truly say whether the rear is original to the car. Can only go by the date in relation to when the car was built and the gear ratio (if you have documentation supporting what the original rear was in the car).

An original protecto plate will hone in on the one and only correct stamp date for your car...but not as specific as a VIN...there may be 100+ other cars with that identical 12 bolt stamp as your car.

The rear end is not original to my car. It was in the car when I bought it in 1978, however 12 bolt is a 1970 only part for 2nd Gen Camaros, mine is a 1972 it should be a 10 bolt. I was just curious what it was in originally ( BB or SB ).
