Not a stitch. Some people say that you can't document a Camaro/Z28 without paperwork?
It wasn't long ago that there was a thread (on another site) stating that we should crush/junk/part out Camaro/Z28s, which had no paperwork and needed more time, labor and parts, than what they are worth to restore.
What do you guys think should be done with this one?

Cool car, should definitely be restored, as long as you keep the siren http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif . It doesn't take a scientific rocket to verify an unrestored, (what looks to be) OP car like this one as a real Z.

I personally love that color combo (since I have one already) and would vote for a restore if it has the original born with drivetrain.
It is, however, a money pit of a car!
Stefano
04-16-2009, 07:44 PM
What about all the Racoon $h^t?
I could not read the engine pad, or get my fat arse under the car to check the trans. The rear had too much scale on it to read the code or date, so we'll check all that out soon.

Donate it to the Tech School guys and use it as a donation for tax purposes! They could build an NHRA F/Stocker. It would help the body shop students, the machine/engine and drivetrain shop and the interior/upholestry kids. where do you guys find these cars? i've never see anything like this in my part of georgia. I know if I had that car I would definately go through it. awesome color combo too!
Very neat car with colors and RS option. Did anyone notice the original tower top clamps on the heater hose? If the decision is to not restore, I wouldn't do anything to hurt the car. Someday someone should and will restore this car, just display it as is for now like Pro Team did with the red/red '68 L88 that was at Vettefest.

[/ QUOTE ] I found a 69 rs z28 on ebay in that same condition, missing the original motor in missisippi.in 2003,i think there still out there..
They sure are still out there. I was in Castroville, TX yesterday and passed a '69 Z28 at a tire store. I turned around to look at the car and an older man was the owner. He owned the car since the mid 70's and it was gold/green. It was a very original car, but certainly tired and not loved a tremendous amount. He allowed me to look under the hood and it was a Norwood Z, that's for sure. I tried to view the pad, but there was no way to see anything. He had no idea if the motor was original but he had not changed it since he owned the car. Just kind of a tired old '69 Z28 roaming the streets of Castroville, TX.

The 20 on the hood flange is neat, probably 20th week sheetmetal http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif that looks like it lines up with the vin#.
See if you can find a stamp on the inside trunk structure, center forward ?

that is a cool car. The 20 stamp on the hood matches the same stamp on my hood, and my cars vin is 656xxx which is darn close to this one, I agree with m22mike that its likely the week of the hood. I wonder if it had the endura bumper?? and how did the hood actually survive that front end hit? especially with hood pins?

Did you have to dye them to match the seat covers? Are the seat covers PUI?

Joe V Clayton Chevrolet was one of the premier 'performance chevy' dealers in the north Alabama region in those days; My 09C 72B/720 Z28 RS also came from Joe V. Clayton... Seems yours moved to Chicago area in the mid 70's??

Clayton is still open. I go by a couple times a week. If your lucky they might have papers. Paul Smith in Albertville,AL kept every single thing on every car he ever sold. I saw a lot of it while getting a copy of some paperwork on an SYC members 67 Belair. That dealer has since become defunct and the Grandson told me they finally got rid of all the remaining papers.

Gary,
I also have a 09C built hugger orange/ 720 interior Z28 from Alabama, non RS. It also came up to the Chicago area in the '70s. It was sold at Gillespie-Durden Chevrolet in Prattville, AL according to the NCRS.

Hello Camaromb.. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
It would be interesting to compare data between our cars; mine is unrestored and all metal, glass, interior is factory original (only items replaced have been rubber parts and 'wearout items' like brake pads).
note: Prattville is just north of Montgomery, AL.

Tommy: re Joe V Clayton still being open.. Yes, it is! A good friend of mine is the Parts man there. I've checked periodically over the years trying to find out if they might have any original sales paperwork, but they've always told me (even back then, that they trashed it all years ago and didn't keep it). I think I checked the first time after I purchased my car in '76... always the same story.
I knew my car came from Joe V Clayton when I purchased it, because it still had the original 'dealer emblem' attached to the rear panel, along with a Joe V Clayton tag frame. I've since verified that via the NCRS production/shipment verification (18 Sept 1969 production)

Moore's Salvage Yard in Callensburg, PA had a Daytona Yellow 69 Z28 in its' yard back in the 80's-early 90's. He kept it up close to the house and you'd better not stray off the path to go over and look at it. I did in 83ish......never did that again! Ended up being sold probably in the mid 90's.

I have a yellow/yellow HT that is most likely the only one made with its configuration.
How many of y'all have seen a 69 Z with a BO rear? This car is a late build, October, and actually has a CBO rear. There couldn't have been very many Z's made with that rear, much less a yellow/yellow HT one.
It is an absolutely gorgeous color combo, especially with a black vinyl top.

There is another Daytona yellow/yellow houndstooth black vinyl top '69 Z28 in the Chicago area. I was at the MCACN show a few years ago.

wow, that sounds like a really cool car.
im not always a huge yellow fan, but a buddy of mine had this car and i loved it. i really like them with the VT but stefano's will be super cool too. i get that the color combo isnt for everyone and respect that. but, its pretty rare with the yellow HT and very nice for a change, at least. guarantee you whoever ends up with stefano's will have the only one in their part of the world.

I prefer Black paint w/ Yellow houndstooth, but I'm partial to that. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif
However a yellow/yellow Z would make a very nice companion though.

Fred's is great. I do business with a guy that was an early owner of it. If I remember right he traded it for a 427 corvette. We were taking about cars one day and he mentioned the color and there has to be only one of those
