I have in my collection a 1966-67 OEM 442 Hurst shifter, my question is, what kind of shifter ball was used from the factory(black ball, white ball, Tee handle)???
Or does any one know a good Olds site I could ask the question at ???
Thanks for any and all responses... Crash

Crash,
Back in the day a friend bought a new 67 442 with 4 speed. God Knows it's been a long time and many http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif ago, but I believe it had a black shift ball.

FWIW, under Sam's thread in the Lounge about the Pavillions cruise night 4/17/09, he has a picture of a white 67 442 ragtop that has a black shifter ball.

Crash,
I took a fairly hi res shot and below is blown up to show no pattern on ball but the console does have the pattern. Have no idea whether this car is correct.

Cars with consoles got a plain black ball. Cars without got the pattern black ball. The 66-67 handle isnt the same. The 66 has a squared off end, right before the threads. The 67 is tapered to the threads.
And 442.com absolutely sucks.
