I just went down to the Chevy dealer by my job to see the new Camaro they have on display.Apparently many dealers got what looks to be a promo car that wasnt supposed to be displayed until May 6th,but they have them out on the lot anyway. They are 1LT's,red with black interior cars, with the 20" wheels and all the upgrades{except the V6}.The sticker says $28k,but there is a second sticker that says something like "Market adjusted value" on it with a $35k price. The dealer says thats a good deal since some other dealers are going up to 12K over sticker.I dont know about you,but I would rather just wait a few months and buy a V8 car.Whats really funny is that the person most interested in buying this car wasnt some collector looking to be the first kid on the block with the new toy,but rather a mother looking at the car for her daughter who simply wanted it because it was a cool looking red car,but was debating over the wait time that she would have to deal with to get her desired car with a sunroof. So this woman if going to spend 7K over sticker for a car that her daughter will either wreck or want to trade in for a Honda in 3 years.Oh well,I guess somebody has to buy it so that the regualr priced cars can get here sooner.

The arrival date for the dealers here keeps getting pushed back. Don't remember the exact dates, but was supposed to be early May but now pushed back to the end of May, decent chance that it will be delayed further.

I predict that there will not be much demand for this car. You will be able to get one for invoice within three months. Trust me.

I see my dealer also has one sitting on the curb. Red V6 with a stick. I will try to get over there and report on the real 'out the door' price. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

You would think GM would learn from the 04 GTO mess. Look what they ended up going for in the end. Chevy should sell them 2k under sticker and build as many as they can. Otherwise in 3 years there will be no more Camaro. If I was that young girtls father I would be over at the Ford Dealer getting a GT Mustang and keeping a lot of cash in my pocket. Are the Dodge dealers still playing this game with the Challenger ??

New car sales are at an all time low, however, lets "dealer markup" the new Camaro in an effort to show they want to turn profits.

Well they are in business to do that. Why should a businessman take less money than he can get for something? Nobody sells anything around here for less than they can get. If Camaros don't sell then they'll lower the price--slowly and in small increments--until they do.

Red RS 1LT 6spd only $28,000. Salesman says the dealer policy is not to exceed MSRP.

Rich, where are you located? I am in the land of the $4.00 bottle of water(The Hamptons), is gouging worse elsewhere? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I just went and looked at Gary Lang in norhtern Ill. They had a sticker next too the window sticker that showed a $1000 dealer mark up or add on. What a joke. We gave them how much money. The car had some fit and finish issues and the interior was a little weird. The knobs for the heat and a/c stick out far and just do not look right. I am a chevy guy but I think I would rather go with a dodge challenger. They got it right.

I havent seen any Camaro's on lots here yet, But the Dodge dealers are making good deals on Challengers, I was thinking of buying a SRT I liked it untill I got in it, I am 6'2 and had the seat in back position to drive it and it was 2 inches from the rear seat well no new Challenger for me, I have 3 kids that will not work. Bummer... Now the Camaro return I am not sure on, when they were still on the lots they were not a real big seller, I did purchase a new 95 Z28 and it was a fun car and had some room in it with good power, I will have to wait and see one in person, if I can get the kids in it, it might have to be the next new car.

"Market Adjusted Price" is a nice word for "GREED". After they announced the demise of Pontiac yesterday (a very sad day that actually puts a knot in my throat) and the upcoming closure of 42% of dealerships, I can't believe they have the nerve to price gouge ANY new car. $35K for a V6 car is absolutely ridiculous. I had a bad dealership experience on a car and it was the first thing I would think about everytime I looked at the car for a long time.

LOL...I know the feeling...we had a '98 Malibu that was probably *the* most reliable vehicle I've ever owned, but I still get po'd talking about it because of the way we got snookered at the dealership when we bought that car...the kicker is those douchebags had the b@lls to send us a "satisfaction report" with a note instructing us how to fill it out favorably!

I work with these characters every day...it never ceases to amaze me how short sighted they are http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Most dealers who floor plan with GMAC are at the max....no additional credit, which means their ability to add inventory is hampered greatly. When these cars sit around for awhile incurring floor plan expense the prices will soon come down...it is a shame to see this kind of thing, but it is par for the course http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sadly the test vehicle was an automatic, not a stick. There were several shift options to choose from including manually with paddles on the steering wheel, very video-gamish!

The car was easy to get into even with my giant 13 1/2 work boots on. The first thing I noticed was the lack of visibility, disturbing in the parking lot but didn't really notice it once on the road. The acceleration was impressive for a 6cyl to say the least. Very smooth and constantly pulling into the 7's ?!

I did manage to get some twists and turns and the car was perfect. You can shut off all the stability and traction assist if you choose and the car still sticks.

As for the back seat, yes, I had to throw the kid in the back. For some reason the salesman wants to come along when you show up with a teenager and a video camera ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Some of these guys just don't get it, and probably never will. A few years back (pre-financial crisis) I was in the market for a new truck. I had a good idea of what I wanted, didn't see it on the lot and didn't want to settle for less. Here is just a sample of my experience:

1. A local Chevy dealer had a sign in front of the dealership stating "If you don't see what you want, we will get it for you". I walked in the front door HOLDING MY CHECKBOOK AND A PEN. A salesman walked up and asked if he could help me. I told him what I was looking for, I did not see it on his lot and asked if he could get if for me. He said "Sorry, it's the end of the model year" and walked away leaving me standing in the middle of the showroom. I left.

2. I called another local Chevy dealer one morning and told him I would like to come in that evening to order a new truck. We set up an appointment for that evening. It then snowed about four inches that afternoon. I showed up at the dealership at the appointed time that evening and found the dealership closed. I called the salesman the next morning. He told me that the sales manager closed the dealership the night before and took all the sales staff skiing. I didn't go back.

3. My uncle was looking for a new truck at the same time. He called yet another Chevy dealer and set up an appointment over his lunch hour. He showed up for the appointment and asked the receptionist to let the salesman know he was there for his appointment. The receptionist stated that the salesman asked her to tell him that he went to get a haircut and told him he could come back later if he wished. He did not.

Should it really be that difficult to by a new truck?

Same type of deal when I walked into my local Buick store to buy a new 86 Buick Turbo Regal. I knew exactly what I wanted, even had all the option numbers, but the sales people tried to sell me everything but what I wanted. I suggested they call their zone manager and have the car special ordered,

but their final words were, "if we cant order it on our computer, you can't get it". I was sooooo honked off after wasting 1 1/2 hours on my lunch hour, I never did buy one..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Servco Pacific who sell Toyota and Chevys here in Waipahu told me last weekend that THEY DO NOT add any dealer markups and would sell at sticker. Salesman said that was for the 2010 Camaro as well. Other dealers have for years added between $3K to $15K on their cars as a Hawaii Market Adjustment. I have seen the 15K markup on Vettes??
Wonder if you can still order a Heater Delete Camaro here in Hawaii like you could back in 67/8/9 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was looking for a Crewcab truck for the wife since her Honda Civic was stolen 3 weeks ago and she now wants a 4 door truck. A nicely loaded Silverado LT will run about 33K while a nicely loaded Toyota Tacoma D Cab would run about 26K

Might still make the trip to the mainland and see what I can find. Wish GM would release what dealerships they are going to do away with, they have to have some inventory they need to sell http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Saw a silver one at Wilton Chevrolet (CT) yesterday. Didn't stop to look. The additional markup won't last long. My local Dodge dealer has a bunch of Challengers just sitting. I would think that is indicative of the demand for the Camaro (after initial puchases are made).

Why ? Well lets see. GM ( Government Motors ) is on the verge of going out of business. As I said before they have already been through this with the 04 GTO. Right now interest is high. Build a [censored] load sell for just under sticker make a good profit and make the customer happy. You sound like you work for GM. Th http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gifats yesterdays thinking.

I think dealers are trying to hold gross on the one's built before the shutdown. It might have worked if they weren't so fugly. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Let's face it, there cars (Chally, Camaro etc.) are not practical in anyway, in a time when practical seems to be dominatiing everything in your life, and they have the nuts to gouge the pricing. You think the guy that sells 50' boats is looking to sell over MSRP right now.? He'll take a box of crackers, some old lottery tickets and anything else you have just to get it off his lot. Like everything else, wait a few months and you will be in the drivers seat bargaining wise

Just got back from my local dealer (Hoselton in Fairport NY) where they were delivering a red SS. Of course I couldn't drive it. Looks better in person but I couldn't get all over it because the owner was taking it.

I remember them doing the same thing when the LT1's came out in '93. You couldn't get a 6-speed and the salespeople were just horrible. A lot of my friends were very interested but went over to Ford to buy Mustangs.

Not only that, but every salesperson you talk to knows nothing about the cars that they sell.

I just took one for a spin at the local small town dealer. No markup there. They will deal with a buyer, from sticker down.
