View Full Version : Stopped by Yenko today...

It was a nice sunny Saturday so I decided to take my Chevelle out for an afternoon cruise. I stopped by the Yenko Canonsburg store and figured I'd better pose her for a few pics before they knock the place down for good. I wasn't born until '79...but I can imagine what it must have been like to take delivery of a new musclecar there. Too bad more isn't being done to preserve the old building.

Those are cool pictures and if you look close it also will remind you of another SuperCar dealer as well.
Are there plans for the place to be leveled or is it for sale??

Jeff, although I know of no immediate plans to tear the place down...it is in serious disrepair and doesn't look like it's been shown any love in years. I'm sure it could be bought, and likely pretty cheap.
Sam...I thought the same thing while I left my Chevelle idling there for those few pics by the garage bays...but unfortuntely there's no one left inside to provide a "Yenko Tune" so it still ran the same when I left. I did make sure I gave it a good 1-2 when I pulled out of the lot...since it seemed like the only appropriate way for a big block 4-gear to leave a place like that.

I'm sure I wasn't the first, and hopefully I wasn't the last. Someone with some excess $$$ should pony up and save the place before it really becomes history.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif photos...Car looks great.... Sometimes you gotta peel back the pages of time now and again to put things in perspective...

Everyone should chip in and the SYC should buy the dealership! How about a Yenko museum? Could have a rotation of SYC member cars!

Nice Pics. Being born and raised in Pittsburgh, I bought my first chevelle at Ed Kelly Chevrolet in Clairton. Your car is the spitting image of it. I purchased the car the last week of April, 1970 (two weeks out of the Army and no job yet). It was a 396/375. Traded it back in at Kelly in 1974. So if the history checks out, I have the original Muncie shifter for you. Kept it all these years after I put a Hurst in it around 1971.
