I wanted to post this as a "heads up" for other readers out there and share my experience of what happened to me today in my garage..
Last night I had my Harley out and while putting it away in the garage, a medium sized stray cat all white in color, walked up to the rear of the bike in the garage when I was wiping it down. This cat was not afraid of me and was friendly. My Wife and I had to chase it out from the front area of the garage because after a few minutes it started hanging out and did not want to leave.. I thought it left entirely because my motion light came on on the west side of my garage. So I figured it went away activating this light. I even looked around the garage and underneath my Nova and my buddy's 67 Chevelle that I have stored in my garage. My Wife and I saw nothing.
Well today when I went out to the garage I noticed cat droppings on the floor mat/runner carpet I have on the floor near the man door. My first thought was "Oh Shi!". I started to look around and found this same damn cat had taken up residence underneath my workbench. There is only about a 3 inch gap from the concrete floor up to the bottom of the work bench and that damn thing squeezed every inch of its body to get underneath there. It took me a while to find the stupid thing. My first horrible thought was that it crawled into one of the engine compartments.. Luckily and thank God both cars were fine and the cat did not jump on or in them. I checked them carefully... They both have good, thick car covers on them also..
I had to use a broom handle to chase the thing out from under the workbench and out of the garage. After it ran outside it ran back in again and under the workbench a second time. I again had to chase it out from under there and had my Wife shut the garage door quickly when it ran outside. I swear I wanted to kill that thing and it had to be comical watching my Wife and I.. Then after being evicted from the garage it kept running around the outside of same.. I could not capture it.. I am going to call our city's Animal Control Officer tomm. and see if he can trap the thing before it comes back again...
There is nothing in the garage that would have attracted this cat to it.. I keep no food out there for fear of mice or rats during the winter and summer.. It is just totally car and bike storage areas along with some car memorabilia.. All of my lawn and garden equipment is stored in my shed.. We have a cat but she is strickly an indoor cat.. As a precaution I also even have mice traps and glue traps down just in case.. It must have snuck by us last night hiding under the workbench.. The garage is sealed tight and nothing could get in once its closed up and locked.
Just an FYI... be careful and check your garage over good everytime you have the door open this summer.. I never had this problem before and didn't think much of it until this happened.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
