Jim,
I'm going to assume you mean a 70 Chevelle with an LS6 going by your sign on name. 70 454 cars w/o air conditioning use an 1119515 voltage reg. LS5 cars with a/c got an 1119519.
Try John Pirkle in GA. for a restored dated unit.
Hope this answers your question, Chris

thanx chris, yes it is a ls6, i have one in the garage i found today which is the same number you said 1119515, but i believe the date code is wrong for my car, it has 0G on the regulator which is july? of 70, thanx Chris

You're welcome Jim,
OG is indeed July of 70.

I have seen restored voltage regulators, where it looks like the unit was zinc plated with a old (black) cover on, so as not zinc plate the guts.
I'm thinking that the OEM metal base was stamped out of galvanized sheet.
Can LS6 Ragtop educate us on this subject.....

Chuck,
Restored units by Pirkle are indeed zinc plated. I would think that the chemical to plate would get into the unit regardless of whether or not you covered it? Never tried myself to replate one so can't really educate anybody as to what you need to do to protect the actual regulator parts.
Originals bases were indeed stamped from galvanized sheet stock.
