The '63 Z06 that was bid to $300,000.00, but didn't sell. My favorite and my biggest surprise.

I may be biased, but the Bright Green 69 COPO Camaro from Nickey is still one of my favorites.

That and the B5 Blue 4-speed 440+6 Roadrunner Convertible.

And the...and the...

I have always been a fan of the Cobra, so needless to say the Cobra display was number one on my list. Cool to see Colin in the thick of things, including the Coupe.

Others include, Mike Gs Pontiacs and the three #1 '69 Camaros (ZL-1, Yenko and COPO).

I was surprised with the lack of interest in the big block Buicks on this weekend anyway. A couple of '70 Stage 1's (couple and convertible) and a '70 GSX. I think the GSX bid to low 60's and the others didn't reach that level.

No big surprise but I thought D. Mecum's Chevelles did well. I see he eventually sold his LS6 Convertible. Looks like the low mile LS6 couple was the only one to go back home with him.

How about a '70 Judge for $36,500, seems like one of the better buys.

Don's Chevelle did do quite well especially considering what the other LS6's were bringing. Just goes to show what an impecable restoration and sales description can do besides the fact that its rarely seen and appealing color combination did not hurt. Congrats Don though sorry to see it leave the area.

Congrats to Don and Judi with a sale of 118k for their LS6 Chevelle.

I was told I drove it further than Don, which was from the outside tent to the block! Car had 5.9 miles on the odometer when it sold and it was indeed a sight to see. The workmanship was outstanding, truly like stepping back in time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

And the new owner drove it home to Fort Wayne, (literally)...NOT in a trailer!

The Cobra (Daytona Coupe) did not sale, bid to 6.8 million. Word was it would take at least 7.5 to buy it, as the owner had somehwere North of 8 in it.

I thought the ZL-1 #1 would do better then $600,000, as IMO, a realy neat car. One has to to wonder if this car falling well short of its reserve (and projected value) was caused by the sluggish economy or due to past mud slinging regarding other Dick Harrell cars.

Too bad Don didn't get a chance to show the car a few times before it found a new home. But for those of you who didn't get a chance to see it, .............

I watched the auction Saturday night with a room full of car and non-car guys. The one thing everyone could not believe was the way Dana Mecum would literally lean into, and on every single car that crossed the block. That was hard to watch. After awhile it just became a game. I would not want anyone leaning on my cars like that...BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Both 69 Trans ams were very nice matching number cars that sold for more than what I thought was market as well as the 64 Grand Prix 421 Tripower 4spd. The 68 GTO 400HO 4spd Convert was an "over the top" resto that sold for 60K? You couldn't restore the car for anywhere near that number. Big surprise was 37K for the 72 442 350 4spd. What an outstanding father and son resto!!!!
Stood there in the staging lanes and tried to guess sale prices but I was way off on some. Anyone know what the sale percentage was?

BTW......Indy rocks big time!!! Best car auction I've ever been to in my life.

I heard that the sales % was around 65% which is a very strong number.

While I generally prefer '70 Challengers over 'Cudas, that black on black on black Hemi 'Cuda with dog dish caps was pretty darn nice.

The plum crazy Hemi Challenger 'vert was pretty darn nice too.

There really were so many incredibly nice/rare cars, my head was spinning watching it.

Quit sucking up to Stefano! I may be biased also, but I liked my Black Cherry L78 (one of the 6) Dana's sold for 180,000.00 and he must of got the only buyer for the L78 convt.

Agree. I frequent all different auctions and Dana's is by far the best and at the best location.

I missed the Friday stuff, Did get to see Don's car up close the car & colors were truly stunning, I also noted that someone drove it through a puddle (Bob ?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif)

I liked the 427 Tom Payne cobra competition roadster

And I really liked S86 the black on black 62 09-09 Impala.

Had a great time.

While I'm a bow-tie guy @ heart, and the black COPO Chevelle was *stunning* and is the epitome of my favorite body style, it was simply gravy, considering I made the trip solely to see that many Cobras rumbling by, within inches of my pants legs. I'm normally a "more go, less show" type guy, but what a grouping of cars. My oh my, the things I'd do with one of those 427 cars...

Well worth the 8 hours up, hang out for a bit, then 8 hours home *road trip* with the old man...

The black COPO was formely Kevin DeWitte's that was featured in the most recent Super Car feature. It is an awesome COPO Chevelle! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Didn't I see a blue '66 (?) coronet Hemi, auto that seemed in treat shape go for around $50K? That car looked exactly like the first Hemi I ever saw. Only beautiful under the hood!

Hey! I would like to see some posts about what a great car and good deal the buyer got on Don's LS6. My name is Bob Krouse and I am the proud new owner of this wonderful Chevelle I can not tell you all what a thrill it was to buy a car like this at the auction (1st time) and drive it home. Although I am new to the supercar community, I spent the last two years restoring a 1972 Datsun 240Z. (that took 1st place for judged, first generation Zs and the People's Choice award at the 2008 Cleveland Rock Z show)
I wanted to let you know that the car has gone to a good home in Northern Indiana. Also, today, I am joining the Yenko Supercar Club and entering the car in the November Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals.
I look forward to meeting some of you and getting some good feedback about how to make Don's (now Bob's) LS6 even better.

Awesome and welcome to the site! I was just telling Don yesterday that it was a shame that he put all that blood, sweat and tears into that car and never got an opportunity to show it off. He spoke very highly of you and was very glad to hear the car performed flawlessly on it's maiden voyage (when you drove it home). Again, welcome to the site and looking forward to seeing you and the car at the show. Nice to see where these cars once again bring people together and create new friendships. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

-------Robert,,,I got up close and personal with Dons fine LS6 when I had a few minutes at the auction and Im not sure you will have much to do. Go to the fridge, get a cold one (or two) and just sit in the garage for awhile and soak it all in. You are the proud owner of a really well restored LS6,,,enjoy!!!!!!!!!!.........Bill S

Congratulations Bob. You have indeed become the caretaker of one beautiful and unique Muscle Car.

Great to hear you will be joining us at the Nickey Chicago Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals!

If you have any questions about the show, please let me know [email protected].

Of course, there are plenty of people around here that can tell you the "ins and outs" of the show, especially Don and Judi, as they are veterans!

Any detail pics of the resto on the white LS6? Just want to see how the market is doing on a top shelf LS6...118k is strong money for a bench car..
