I just ran across a local guy who has a 1965 Biscayne 2 door with a 396 - he claims is original but hard to tell as I was not in the position to read the pad. It is not the original color but is painted a nice light blue - it is 99% rust free - underneath real solid - interior needs redone and engine bay and trunk need detailed. I have always been a fan of the stripped down post cars and this one seems affordable. He is asking 9k - just wondering in case it is an original 6cyl I won't be making a stupid purchase. Can we tell by vins on these or anything - I do not know much about the 65 identification.
Thanks for the help!

a 6cyl biscayne vin would start 15311...V8 would be 15411 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Ok - looks like I have an original 6 cyl car, now has a 396 dated late 65, with a th400, Power steering, radio delete, repainted a light blue. What do you think on this one - is 9k too much?

9k is not too much for ANY decent big block equipped cool 60s chevy IMO. Cmon, what are you gonna get for under 10 grand? Is the interior good? Solid floors? Sounds like a neat car for the money.
Is this the car?

some of these cars go for a lot more depending on what other options they have and how well the work is on the car...I say
"go drive it....if you like it...make him and offer
