Wow, that is quite a reward just for finding the car. I wonder if it is stipulated that the "finder" only gets the $25K if the car can be bought. If not, the owner of the car has them by the balls. Here is part of the rules:
4. Prize: The official prize for the Contest is $25,000. In order to obtain the prize claiming you have found Papa’s original Camaro, you must show proof of official vehicle title stating the names of all past owners, including John Schnatter, and a photo of the Camaro outlined in the contest. You must also include your name, address and phone number for prize receipt consideration. Winners are responsible for all fees associated with prize receipt and/or use.

Was it even a real Z-28? I question it due to the short spoiler and lack of rear bumper guards.

"...you must show proof of official vehicle title stating the names of all past owners, including John Schnatter...
Early clone possibility aside, isn't what they're asking for next to impossible to obtain in most if not all States so the above statment a good way out of paying the prize?.

Twitter site says "is offering $25K to the owner" as if he'll pay the OWNER the $25K for the sale of the car to PJ; quite a difference from the 'finder's fee' that it sounds like in the rules. Don't know about other states, but in Fla. only the current owner is shown on the title. With the demise of title searches in most states, the providence will be challenging to prove. Would also think that a DMV connection might be able to trace the old tag number and cross it to a VIN.

I dont think they thought this one out too well. They might want to have their lawyers revise this paragraph as you can get into some legal trouble for releasing DMV info to someone who is not a current owner. These laws were the result of that Hollywood starlet that was stalked and murdered a decade or so ago after the friendly local DMV gave the killer all of her address and bio info.
Of course, existing info you already have (old paperwork) is not covered by these laws. It applies only to getting the past owner info from DMVs. They won't release anything with personal info from prior owners without you jumping through all sorts of legal hoops.
Also, I cant think of any state that has all prior owners listed on a title. That would be a restorer's wet dream having all prior owners listed on a single title document.
So yeah, I think they wrote it with an impossible to meet requirement on purpose.

My question is, did John paint the tail pan black or was it that way when he bought it. Only Big Blocks had the tail painted black.

I know the contest wording is kind of crazy and such, but I gotta appreciate that he's looking for his original car, and that's very cool day-2 old Camaro, clone or not.
