An old wrecking yard here is closeing down. They have a dozen 67-74 Camaro's, I'm getting 8 of 'em.

The ones I've got home now...

68 Z. They "sold" it to a family friend before I got there, for $7K. Should I go back and see if it could be "unsold" for more? It has a non-numbers DZ in it now.

The rest of the cars are in a diffrent part of the yard. I'll get pix of them, when I go back on Sunday.

seriously though, what's that 68 Z worth? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Is there any paperwork or other documentation to prove it is a Z? If that rear differential pictured (10 bolt) is in that car it is missing the engine, transmission (has auto installed) and rear end and with a 68 it is nearly impossible to prove it is a Z/28 without original paperwork or original drive train.

Eric, did you happen to get any of the VIN's for the first gen Camaros? I'd like to add them to the database if possible.

Thanks
Ed

That's good to know. The reason for clearing out the yard, is the two brothers who own it are fighting. I bought one brothers share, but the 68 Z belongs to the other brother, and I've have no contact with him. Although his house is here at the yard, and I could go knock on the door.

not too sure that is a real one, no rear bumper guards for one, no 12 bolt ...

IF the 68 "Z" is a Van Nuys car the top of the cowl will be painted stripe color ...

the tire decal inside the glove box would be 15"

the drivers side exhaust hanger bracket should be present, but that would be there if the car was an SS too, count the spring wraps on the hood hinges, that will tell you IF it used to have an SS hood on it ...

Thanks Jim, that's what I was looking for. I'm much better at figureing out second gens. Now I'll just have to get a quiet moment with the old girl, when I go back.
I thought the rear bumper fangs on it were the "Z Bumper Guards".

The rear bumper guards on 68-69 Z's were the larger ones which straddled the bumper and had a rubber insert. The second gen Z's have the fangs below.

67-69, they made a few (602) 67's too and ALL of them had the larger rear bumper guards . . . http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

of the 8 cars I'm getting=
cut up the 70 shell that was tubed (orange one with stripes), it's got great quarters and doors.
pull parts off the 73 Z28(viynl roof trim, gauges) and 74.
sell the red 70 roller.
sell both 68 rollers.
part out the 69.
and keep the 71 4 speed Z/28, not because I want to build it or anything, just because I think it's cool. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I got a big pile of parts with it all to, I'm gonna have a pretty epic muscle car yard sale next week.

I am interested in some of the 70-73 camaro parts if you are interested in selling them.I live in New Jersey which is almost as far away as you can get from AK,otherwise I might be looking to buy one of the whole cars.I would be interested in a reasonably clean upper and lower header panel, front and rear bumpers with brackets,grille{72-73 prefered},tail lights, and I would also like the brackets that hold the tail lights to the rear tail panel if you could score a set{they are welded on}.Let me know what stuff you have for a 70-73 as well as what rollers you could get.I have a 74,as well as a 73 that I cut up to make a backhalf race car out of years ago and threw away everything.I was thinking of combining the 2 cars to make one,but I would still be missing a lot of stuff.Thanks.
