Hello if interested i know of a car in a local wrecking yard that has an original one still ( 72 ss chevelle )in it, that is for sale. You are correct there is a difference in them, the four speed one has an extra bracket welded to the back for shifter mounts.I live in Salinas, Ca and can arrange to ship it to you. I will need to see how much he wants for it, but i think that it would reasonable. Thanks, Geoff. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Hi,
Just an FYI, convertible crossmembers are narrower than the more common coupes. If you need a convert. 4-speed crossmember, El Camino and station wagon crossmembers are the same width. Good luck finding a 4-speed wagon. Again assuming by your sign on name you have a convert.

Hi thanks for the info,my convert is an auto,im working on my ls5 hardtop 4sp car,but when i bought it in 1987 the owner of the car couldent keep a 4sd in there, so he put a 400 auto and just left the pedals in the car,i just ordered a new hurst linkage from year one,but i have a question about the seat ,i think its a bench seat car because it doesnt have factory looking seat holes on the inside by the tunnel,i almost had a heart attack last week my buddie thought he found the build sheet in the back seat but it appears to be a strip of paperwith numbers in between the seat and frame, looks like i have to pull the seat appart to get it out,i can see the first line it says car and load number, thanks for the info kris..
