That's an understatement. Thriller is no doubt one of the best albums made ever. A shame he was never able to repeat that effort.

All I know is that he had a big heart...at least he did years ago.
When Holly was about 4...one of the first kids transplanted at Loma Linda became critically ill and and was awaiting another transplant.
Lynn took a chance and called the "We are the World" foundation to see if anything could be done.
They actually sent some stuff to the boy in the hospital...and Lynn got a phone call later that week. When she answered the phone...the guy said asked a bunch of questions about both Holly and the boy in the hospital.
Once she was done answering the questions...the guy from We are the World let Lynn know that Michael was listening in on the conversation.
A few days later...Holly received an autographed We are the Word Shirt" an autographed picture of Michael addressed to her...and a small note as well.
We still have the stuff...I will have to dig it out and take a picture...
It was nice of him to do that...
No matter what is now thought of him...RIP Michael... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Wish I could dance like him!! Thriller, the all time best selling album made over $4 Billion in sales in 1983 dollars.
That's a lot of muscle cars or way too many rides on a NeverLand ranch merry-go-round http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Rabid popularity does extremely weird things to some people...Michael Jackson is one example, Elvis is another.

I guess growing up famous or poor in Gary would not have made a difference. MJ was doomed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I've never been 'thrilled' w/ any of his music but it's tough to be sure of any truths in the media and Bruce's account has to be the closest any of us will probably ever come to a report we can trust so considering that, I feel more sorry than I ever would have previously..
The 500 million in the hole thing is hard to believe too...has his ownership of Beatles music etc and other holdings been considered or is that actually his debt before reconciliation/value of his assets?.
And what would he have pissed away his dough and this much added debt on?.

People tend to always make personalities "bigger than life". After all...he was a person just like everyone else.
I've heard people say that everything he did...he did for publicity. Too many generalities...there was no publicity with what he did for Holly and the boy dying at Loma Linda http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
I will get the stuff out that he sent her. It was very nice of him to do what he did.
Oh, BTW, it wasn't the "We are the world foundation" it was called the HEAL the World Foundation...sorry for the misstep.
Having read his financial problems in regards to his Never Land Ranch Estate, and after learning last night on the evening news that he had a "Last World Tour", it is no wonder he had a tour planned. He needed the $.
I remember when in 1980 me and my oldest brother bought tickets to see the Rolling Stones. Ir was their "last" world tour. YA, RIGHT, lol. If you look at some of these bands they are getting to be in their late 60's. Not sure if Michael would have pulled it off, a come back, I guess we will never know.
Liked his music and dancing but he was one strange duck, and perhaps a child molester. He had paid over 20 million to boys parents in a Civil case that did not go to trial. That young boys testament did not change after several years and many interigations.
RIP Michael Jackson.

He was born a black boy and died an old white woman. Strange man fer sure. Legend in the music biz but the alledged pedophile thing creeps me out. He spent plenty keeping people paid off to stay out of court . In Any case RIP

Funny thing the man was never convicted of anything, but either was O.J. We know for sure he did alot of good, but maybe, just maybe, he did some bad. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Do you think he spent all that money paying people off and buying all of those little special drinks for all his quests??????? I don't know.
What is this country coming to when the House of representatives holds a moment of silence for him.
Remember we still have soildiers dying overseas everyday fighting for this country. Is there a moment of silence every time one of soldiers die??

Most of his fortune was squandered through his insane spending habits and his various legal battles and the resulting confidential settlements over the years. If his criminal trials had been held on any other planet other than California he would have died in prison.
Sorry to see anyone pass before their time but as a former prosecutor who tried child sex crime cases like his, this pretty much says it all for me:

If true...then it's sad. What sucks even more is that his father should already be in prison for the same crimes...

Well...so far...we've found one of the three items...
Here's the picture that he sent to Holly. It says "All my love, Holly. Michael Jackson"

Seriously, it's nice to see this thread head in a decent direction. I've seen things on other forums get deleted because people can't seem to respect others in their so-called mourning. Say what you will about MJ, but the reason why he's so significant is because he played a part in the coming of age of many people . . . just like Farrah.

The man was everywhere in the Eighties and made his fortune from what he was good at doing....singing and dancing. Remember, those were the days before the Internet tied the world together so closely. Seems like these days that there's a new Superstar every 6 months and then he's gone and replaced. Now, I'm not defending the man and we all know the allegations against him, but my opinion of him was always just kinda on the fence. I didn't know the whole story and neither did the rest of the world. We only know what the media told us and it can be very "selective reporting". We can only imagine when you have that kind of money, how everybody comes out of the woodwork for their share. Long-lost relatives appear, strangers file lawsuits against you. I don't know...........but I've always been very careful not to judge people without knowing both sides of a story.
