I'm posting this for a friend of mine. Here is his description:

This is a true L-79 1968 Chevelle sport coupe and numbers matching. The engine has ES on the block. What you have here is complete car minus the smog equipment. Sheet metal will need to be replace as there are some rust holes in the floor bottom of front fenders and on the lips of quarter panels. The following is what the car has: White Vinyl top, M 21 close ratio 4 speed, F40 special suspension, factory wood wheel, manual rear antenna, tinted front windshield, am radio, parch vinyl interior, heavy duty clutch, power steering, 12 bolt 336 positraction rear end and of course L 79 motor. This car still has the original Muncie shifter. The carpet has been removed to show the floor better. This car is the real deal with documentation to prove it. Asking $6500. Call Toli for more info at: (419) 564-5298. Reasonable hours EST.

I have seen the car, it is original as seen in the pictures. An excellent numbers matching high-perf 327 4spd car. He has the original window sticker and title. Only titled once. Phil Woj.

Thanks SYC.

It is a very cool car. It does need a restoration, but has paper and numbers matching drive-train. Phil Woj.

Good purchase, congrats! I love L79's. A better combo in my opinion than a 396/325 or 350 horse car. Tough to beat a good runnin small block! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

There was one of these cars running around our area back when I had my '68 L-35 Chevelle. It was white with blue bucket guts. Since it wasn't an SS it didn't attract much attention but I always liked the car and the performance surprised a LOT of big block owners.

Anyone who doesn't respect a SBC obviously never spent any seat time with an L-79 or LT-1. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

This is a very interesting car. The L79's in these weren't well known after the run of cars. The color combo is killer as well. The story behind the car is interesting too. I'll let Jeff tell it when the time is right.

By far the fastest car in my home town, not that there was all that much competition, was a 68 327 Chevelle. It was dialed in, quick and loud. I never personally drove it but had a few whitenuckle rides in it with each of the three different owners that had it over the years.

Damn looks like I missed a good one. Tough being out of the country for a while. Best of luck to the new owner and the seller as well!

Wow! F-40 suspension, HD Clutch, Rally Wheels, Sport Steering Wheel, and an M-21. That car was ordered with some neat options! What does puzzle me though is the close ratio 2.20 First gear Muncie coupled to a 3.31 rear gear. That calculates out to an extremely high 7.28 'launch' ratio. Being ordered with 3.31 rear, the wide ratio 2.5 First Muncie would have been a much better choice and I'm actually surprised that they even built it with an M-21. Great car and having been the previous owner of a '68 L-79 Nova, I love these things. Great purchase!

I am not new to Chevelles, but I am new to this site. I purchased this 1968 L-79 Malibu back in December 2010. Does anyone know the history of this very special Chevelle?

Cool Chevelle. I've been a 68 Chevelle enthusiast for longer than I care to remember. Whats the status of the car now? Is it finished?

Hi Bill,
The 68 is in the same shape as it was in the photos earlier in the post. I bought the 68 for my wife and she will not learn to drive a 4 Speed. I am thinking about selling the car and purchasing a 68 SS with an Automatic and Factory A/C so she will have a car to drive.

----Guys,,,Tory was a fireman at the scene during 9/11. I am in awe of he and his fellow fireman and really all the workers in that environment for the great job they did under unbelieveably trying circumstances. Welcome to our sight, Tory. You will really enjoy your time here......Bill S

Neat car. It is for sale on the Team Chevelle site for $16,500 now. It would be neat to see Bill restore this car.

Hi Guys,
Thank You for the warm welcome. I spoke with Bill at length about a week ago and he told me about this site. I usually hang out at Team Chevelle, but this looks like a great site and I am glad to be a part of it. As Bill told everyone, I am a retired New York City Fireman. My Dad was a Fireman for 35 years and I walked not only in his footsteps, but right into his old Firehouse. I had a lot of great memories there as a kid when my Dad worked there. The guys that my Dad trained and worked with showed me the ropes and passed down the tradition. I was blessed to work with some of the best people in the business and those memories I will cherish forever. I was at The World Trade Center on 9/11/01. I am not a hero, I was just doing my job that day. The heroes are the 343 Fireman who were killed that day. They are all my heroes and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of them. I lost quite a few close friends that day and I will never forget them.
I have been a certified Chevelleaholic and general car nut all of my life. My first car was my 68 Camaro listed in my signature. This was my Dad's car new. It was given to him as a gift from my Grandfather when Dad returned home from Vietnam. the car was restored with all GM Sheetmetal back in the late 80s and was painted at my Uncle Bobby and Uncle Tony's shop. The color is Fathom Blue and the best part was that it is in the movies right now. The Camaro is in David Chase's "Not Fade Away".

I purchased the 68 L-79 Malibu back in December 2010. My wife loves 68s and red is her favorite color. The only problem is that she is unwilling to drive a 4 Speed car and there is no way I am going to change it to an automatic. the best thing to do is to sell the car and look for a 68 SS that has an automatic. Yes, I did post the 68 on Team Chevelle, just to gauge interest.

Guys, Thank You again for the warm welcome and I am happy to be a member of this site.

I haven't posted in a while, but I just wanted to give an update. I sold the 68 L-79 Malibu to a gentleman in Kentucky. I told him about the site. Hopefully he will join and keep us all updated on the restoration.

The new owner of the red 68 L79 Malibu purchased a green 68 L79 Malibu. This was the car posted on Craigslist in Minnesota. It has a black bucket seat interior. Nothing has been done to either car and he is considering selling one or both. These 2 cars are very special and I wish they were restored by now. If there is any interest, please let me know.
