Hoping someone here can answer these questions.

Oil pans: Am I correct in understanding that as long as the pan "looks" reasonably like a factory pan, it is legal? Are there any restrictions as to sump length or depth in relation to OE specs? (I know kicked-out pans are an obvious no-go)

Fasteners, specifically cylinder heads: Are OEM fasteners a must, or can aftermarket bolts or head studs be used?

Harmonic dampers: Do they have to be OE diameter?

Thanks.
Eric

Pete and Rob are good for the Factory Stock Stuff.

As for fastners, use the ARP stuff. You don't get knocked for that.

Oil pans and balancers, I would try to get hold of Terry Pennington or another FAST guy running a bow tie.

Eric,

Someone asked the same question over on the F.A.S.T. site.

I am not a FAST officer nor have made it to one of there events to run yet.
I am assuming you are asking about FAST not factory stock. In my opinion its a BIG difference in the rules and there interpretation "tolerance"
Bolts and fasteners are not a tech item.
Damper need not be stock as long as painted to look stock.
I am the one who asked the pan question on the FAST site and in talking with Terry and others in the past it really needs to look stock. But what makes it look stock ? Just the color etc?? My zl1 clone engine should have a black pan...so its going to be black. If the pan ends up "legal" or not i guess is going to depend on who i beat or not on any given day!!
By the way after attending several of these races as a spectator and having a good eye, i have spotted SEVERAL cars with misc "legal" issues.Welded mufflers, non stock appearing engine compartment details, disc brake camaros without boosters( not a tech item but!!?? my zl1 clone had mandatory power brakes as an option so ...should it have power brake booster present to be legal??) "fake" multi leaf springs that are composite springs in disguise, missing mechanical fuel pumps etc..
Dont get me wrong 99% of the cars look 99% correct, and i love this class and concept. If they teched every car to every detail there would not be a very large crowd. The cars with "issues" dont really have an issue unlesss someones fun gets spoiled by someone who has a "infraction" Now does the "infraction" really make that car faster?? who knows. Might not ever be an issue but we have seen grown men fight over stupid rule infractions in many forms of racing before. Not what i want to happen BUT the Smokey Yunick in me loves to read between the lines a little!
