The four websites owned by Al & Dot MacKenzie (Team Chevelle, Team Camaro, etc) have been sold to some media conglomerate. Probably too soon to tell what changes may be in store, but since they are no longer privately owned by car enthusiasts, my guess is that things won't be the same for long http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I was a member there almost from their inception, and I always enjoyed it.

Did not realize that. Just let my Membership expire after 10-12 years.

Let's hope things don't change too much Bill. Team Chevelle has been my "home away from home" for nine years. I know the membership has certainly changed over the years and a lot of the long established members don't post much these days. We don't seem to have as much fun over there as we used too either. All part of "changing of the guard" I suppose.
Me too. Have not been around there much since selling my '70 LS6 Chevelle, and '69 RS/SS though.

I go back to the Chevelles.com days of using Tel-Net to chat with the other members...anyone else remember that?!

I still hang out in the Team Chevelle Cruise-in Forums. Lots of good resources there, but I don't see as many old hands as I used to.

I can't speak for the aforementioned sites but there is a move afoot to make money off of web content such as free sites. Since the Internet came into the national conciousness over a decade ago, business has been trying to figure out how to charge money for its use. Pop-up advertizing and banner ads (etc.) have done the job so far (see Google's financial results for proof) but, as the saying goes, it's never enough. I anticipate sites such as the ones above that have been bought by conglomerates and corporations to soon become places that charge a fee for their use and/or membership and that fee will not go into a 'kitty' for putting on car shows but will go straight into the corporate coffers.
"Good" and "free" do not go together for very long so look forward to the free aspects of the Internet to be whittled away as soon as business can figure out how to get us to pay for it without losing our interest.
