I am assisting a friend with his restoration of 68 RS Z28. The car is an original Corvette Bronze Black Stripe RS car with parchment deluxe interior and factory cowl plenum air cleaner. The project is a complete frame off restoration using the original "born with" engine, trans and rearend. The sheet metal of this dry western car is incredible and is currently ready for final prime and paint (we have no paperwork on the car). The question I/we have is what color should it be painted? Yes, we know how rare and how cool Corvette Bronze is however the owner has his heart set on Tuxedo Black with white stripes. Any opinions out there regarding this color choice and the effect it would have the value of the car should he decide to sell it? I promise to post pictures as soon as it comes out of the booth to let you know what happened! Just for the record, Jim Rohn has already voted; Corvette Bronze.

CB with parchment interior and black stripes...stunninghttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif. My vote is to keep original color too. Value will be detracted with new color. If he decides to keep it or can take the hit on resale, he can paint it whatever color he wants.

Go original, maybe the paperwork will appear one day.

I agree with the group on this one...stay with the original colors or run the risk of second guessing yourself down the road. that combo would surely draw a crowd. I had a friend that had a med brown metallic/blk stripe and white interior car that looked like a million bucks when it was done. I couldnt imagine ordering a car like this from 68 Chevy brochure unless you saw one on the lot and drooled. JMO
Hard to beat that color combo.I too say stay pure to it's pedigree.
The late Tom Billigens 1968 L-78/YENKO traded Camaro comes to mind..

If it were mine I would repaint it the original color. Corvette Bronze is a very nice color with black stripes.

Wow. That L78 is beautiful!
Definitely go with the CB!
Corvette Bronze. I have known two 68 Z'z in that color combo, and it is awesome in person.

Ed M. (enio45) has a sweet CB '68 Z. I have seen it in person and it looks just terrific. I think it may be for sale too! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I don't think that Corvette Bronze is a particularly rare color in '68, but it really is a pretty color and gets my vote. I've seen several '68 Z-28's painted Corvette Bronze and it seems to be a popular color on the "poor man's Corvette" that year but I don't think....that I've ever seen it with a white interior. Now that sounds pretty!

...Paint it corvette Bronze....you are going to a great expense restoring that car.....keep it original and there will be "no excuses" when you do sell it... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I like the Corvette Bronze. From what I understand it was a special paint for that year. I remember a guy that had a Big Block 68 Bronze Camaro with a Black top and a 4 speed. Man that thing sounded good.
